Synopsis
Template:Spoiler Homer attempts to win a radio contest for a football game, only to have Ned Flanders win the tickets. Ned offers him a ticket to the game, and Homer responds by being overly grateful, annoying Flanders and his family to no end. Bart and Lisa become afraid that Homer's change in attitude could mark the end of the family's "wacky adventures", but a week later Homer has inexplicably gone back to hating Ned.
Trivia

- The sign outside the First Church of Springfield says "First Church of Springfield, Loosest Bingo Cards in Town"
Cultural references
- Homer singing along and complimenting the guitar riff in the Eddie Money song, "Two Tickets to Paradise".
- Homer chasing down the Flanders car and the way he appeared and vanished in the hedge is an obvious reference to the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
- Ned is shown driving the Geo, a brand of small cars marketed by General Motors in the mid-1990's. The cars were known mainly for their lack of engine power, hence Ned was screaming that he couldn't make the Geo couldn't go any faster when Maude was pleading him to hurry.
- Homer flying the boat over the parking lot is a spoof of a scene in the James Bond picture Live and Let Die.
- Chief Wiggum's line, "Where's your Messiah now, Flanders?" is originally from The Ten Commandments, referencing the fact that Hank Azaria based Wiggim's voice on Edward G. Robinson.
- Flanders' nightmare about shooting people from a bell tower is a reference to the Texas-Tower massacre in 1966 at the University of Texas.
- Homer's Nachoman song is almost exactly the same as that used in an Old El Paso commercial which aired around the time this episode premiered.
- The homeless shelter that Homer and Ned Flanders visit is called Helter Shelter, a reference to the song "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles.
Goofs
- Homer's car is olive green throughout the episode.
Quotes
- Marge: Honey, I'm so glad you're ho--
Homer: Can't talk, seeing Flanders. Later, sex.
- Mr. Burns: Men, there's an injured boy in the hospital who wants you to win. I know this because I crippled him myself to inspire you.
(Cut to the hospital, with Milhouse and his parents)
Milhouse: I hope they win, or Mr Burns said he's coming back.
- Bart: The Flanders are a bunch of geeks, man.
Homer: The Flandereses are not geeks! OK, Rod and Todd are, and the wife has a thing for me, but she hides it behind a mask of low-key hostility -- but we've gotta give this thing a chance! I want the two families to take a trip together this weekend.
- Homer: This is NED FLANDERS...My FRIEND!
Lenny: What he say?
Carl: I Dunno, Something about being gay.
- Lenny: Hey look! Homer's got himself one of those robot cars!
Carl: One of those AMERICAN robot cars.
- (Ned wakes up, gasping)
Maude: What's the matter, Ned?
Ned: I...I think I hate Homer Simpson.
(Next door, Homer wakes up, gasping)
Homer: Marge...I think I hate Ted Koppel! No, wait, I find him informative and witty. 'Night.
- Homer Simpson:Don't worry, I brought my Rappin' Ronnie Reagan tape. It always makes the trip go faster. (pops the tape in)
Ronald Reagan:Well, well, well, w-w-w-well,well, well...
Homer Simpson: (chuckles) You know something? He did say "well" a lot.
