Needs expansion - currntly about the denomination & structure

This article as it stands is not largely about Roman Catholicism in Australia, it is about the Roman Catholic Church in Australia and its structure. An article on Roman Catholicism in Australia should at least address

  • History
  • Demographics
  • engagement with broader Australian society

'Roman' Catholic?

I'm not too sure that the Maronite, Chaldean and Melkite Catholics would be too pleased to see the title of this article being the "Roman Catholic Church in Australia"! If you aren't too sure what I am talking about, see the Terminology seciton in the article Catholic Church. I would like some more feedback before moving Roman Catholic Church in Australia to 'Catholic Church in Australia'. Thanks Ghfj007 11:13, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Ghfj007 I'm a Latin and even I'm sick of being called "Roman"... Deus vult! Crusadestudent (talk) 01:02, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Church Resources

There is a charitable trust established by the Australian bishops known as Church Resources. Perhaps it could be mentioned in the current entry. ADM (talk) 08:07, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Article name issues

I have moved the article name back to "Roman Catholicism in Australia" for a number of reasons:

  • 1. The recent move was should have been discussed first. If there is to be a potentially contentious name change of this kind then discussion and consensus is required.
  • 2. The name "Roman Catholicism in Australia" is consistent with other similar articles.
  • 3. Equating "Catholicism" with the Roman Catholic Church is a POV as the term also applies to other Christian traditions.

As stated above, if we are to change the article's name then discussion and consensus is required. Anglicanus (talk) 01:53, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Apostolic delegates

Should there be some mention of Apostolic delegates here? I keep encountering one of them, Bartholomew Cattaneo, in my research into various topics, but he has no article and I am a little reluctant to try to create one without understanding where apostolic delegates fit into the scheme of things. This claim needs to be substantiated.

The conservative commentator, Gerard Henderson, claimed that evidence was presented to the Royal Commission into child abuse that children were safer in Catholic schools than other religious schools. This claim needs to be substantiated from an independent source, preferably from the Royal Commission. Michael Glass (talk) 00:35, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Why? It's published in a reliable source. Is it presented as editorial material? The opinion has been attributed to Henderson. I removed the word "claim" because it was not neutral. Why do you require a standard that Misplaced Pages does not? Elizium23 (talk) 00:48, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
