Welcome

Hello and welcome to Misplaced Pages!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

Piotrus,

I've run out of things to say about treecats that won't give away everything. You might want to cast an eye over the article and see if there's anything you can think of. ww 19:04, 21 Apr 2004 (UTC)

--- Piotrus,

you may want to add links to polish wikipedia like this ] at the end of article. Hope this helps! Szopen 11:07, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Nice job, Piotrus :) If i my suggest, you my want to add

Battles
Albums
EPs
Compilations
Singles

( like this: {{msg:battles}} ) in info about battles; also, i think that battle of Kircholm should be separate page from info about city itself; I alway wanted also to create separate page on hussaria, since hussars, despite similarity of the name and common ancestry, have not much common with Polish hussars - but, judging from your link collection, already know it :)

Hi, about the articles on Weber's books, you don't need to add the articles in the "see also" section, because they're already linked in the article text. See Misplaced Pages:Manual of style for more. Yours, Meelar 16:00, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC) ---

Hi Piotrus, I´m not too sure that my articel is dood for an encoclopedy - it was an essay for the university. However, I have read the english one and its different and that is good becaus I loke the difference. On the other hand is my english not good enough! --Ot 14:38, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Hi again, I think really that it is better a native english speaker should translate something and however, the differenc in the articles is not to bad!--Ot 15:38, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Copyrights of paintings

In response to yours IM inquiry, I believe that, basically, reproductions of paintings for which copyright expired are in Public Domain. On Misplaced Pages:Public domain image resources it is said: Accurate photographs of paintings lack expressive content and are automatically in the public domain once the painting's copyright has expired (95 years after initial publication). Redirects

This may be a mistake you just didn't add, but at Patrimonialism, you put redirect ] when it should have been #redirect ]. Just letting you know, you may have just been in a hurry.--naryathegreat 22:34, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC)

Likely that. I know the rule and checked my latest redirects - they work. Tnx for correcting that one though. Hmmm. Setting aside the tech stuff, patrimonalism is the same thing as patriarchy right? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus 11:27, 24 Jul 2004 (UTC)
yep, patrimonalism is the idea, patriarchy is the government, same thing, just different word forms. anyway, i just corrected it because I saw it on the new pages (i check them often for speedy deletion candidates ;)--naryathegreat 01:38, Jul 25, 2004 (UTC)

Naming wars

Since you were either directly or indirectly once involved into edits revolving around "proper" naming of cities like Gdansk/Danzig etc i thought you may be interested in my proposition in User:Szopen/NamingWar. I would want to create a way aimed at stopping the revert wars in future - through creating something like a msg (in see also list or header) explaining that's there is compromise and why, and by linking to the article explaining changes of the statuses of the Royal Prussia province (I would prefer it ot have it as separate article, not scatter it in plethora other articles). I would be happy to hear from you. Szopen 09:22, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

A very good idea - both as a naming wars container and as a good separate article in its own rights. I definetly support the idea and if you need any help let me know - although my knowledge of that subject is pretty limitted. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus 09:44, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Commercializ*

I noticed that you wrote some dictionary entries Commercialize and Commercialization. Dictionary entries like these are really more appropriate for Wiktionary, so I moved them there. Encyclopedia entries should begin with a definition, but need to go on to talk about the subject. If you only have a definition, then it's usually better just to add the definition in an appropriate place in the article that you're linking from, and not create the new article yet at all.

For now, I've redirected Commercialize (the verb) to Commercialization (the noun), and left the latter as a substub. But if you know enough about commercialization to write a good stub article, then that would be nice.

Of course, you created those articles a while ago. So perhaps you've already learned about stubs and Wiktionary! Then I apologise for wasting your time trying to teach you what you already know. ^_^

linki a diakrytyka

Piotrusiu!

] (Wieluń) - a i owszem. A takich niedziałających linków jest tam więcej... Pozdrawiam ] 01:34, Sep 10, 2004 (UTC)

Template:Campaignbox XXXX

The templates are located at the dafault location of Template:Campaignbox XXX, where XXX is a name of the conflict or its front. That is the 1939 campaign box is at Template:Campaignbox Polish Defence War and the 1920 is at Template:Campaignbox Polish-Soviet War. However, I wouldn't disambiguate those links just now, unless you could create at least a stub on those "other" battles. IMO it's better to have a filled link to a disambiguation page than a link to non-existent article. ] 10:14, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

Wikinews demo up and running

Hi!

I'm writing to let you know that the Wikimedia Board of Trustees has approved the first stage of the Wikinews project. There's now a fully operational English demo site at demo.wikinews.org. This will be used for experimenting with various review models and basic policies before the site is launched officially in about a week. demo.wikinews.org will become the English version later.

You voted for the Wikinews project, so I'm asking for your participation now. Everything is open, nothing is final. What Wikinews will and can be depends in large part on you. There already is a global Wikinews mailing list for discussing the project. If you are interested at all, please subscribe -- coordination is of key importance. There's also an IRC channel #wikinews on irc.freenode.net. Realtime discussion can help to polish up articles.

If you're looking for something to do, check out the articles in development and articles in review. Or start a new story in the Wikinews workspace, or ignore the proposed review system - it's up to you. I hope you'll join us soon in this exciting experiment.--Eloquence* 02:00, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)

Weber

You've done impressive work on Weber, Piotrus. As I said before, I was planning to go back tonight for a bit more format + grammar fixup, but, well, after you reverted the quote formatting and User:Clossius flamed me, I'll just leave you guys to it. I don't have that much time to spend on Misplaced Pages. But I hope Max Weber does get featured. Best wishes, ] 01:08, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Misplaced Pages's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to ] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

OR

Option 2
I agree to ] all my contributions to any ], county, or city article as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" with "{{MultiLicensePD}}". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Gold Standard

Noticed you adding this to WP:FAC and just thought I'd suggest adding some references first. Filiocht

Something to do with the new transcluded sub-page structure? Did you read the new instructions, it's quite complicated adding a nomination now. Filiocht 16:10, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)
I bolded the instructions, which I hope will help. Filiocht 14:28, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)

Fajnie by bylo gdybys w wolnej chwili sie tego podjal. Wesolych Swiat! :)--Emax 15:18, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Please help to improve charismatic authority

Piotr, I hope you can help to improve charismatic authority. It is an important subject for me due to my personal history as a true believer of a cult, led by a charismatic person. I believe that I made good contributions to the examples of Adolf Hitler and Jim Jones that nicely show the complexities of the matter. If we can elaborate on two more , preferrably positive examples and delete the rest of the list, then we can remove the clean up tag. I read that Weber considered Kurt Eisner an ideal type, but I may be mistaken. Thanks. Andries 22:42, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

"Pilecki" captions

Would it be feasible to redo 3 captions in the "Pilecki" article, to the versions I listed in the "Pilecki" discussion? Logologist 17:38, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Technical aspects

How would the Pilecki caption changes actually be made? The old captions appear to be part of the same publication from which the corresponding photos were taken; they cannot simply be deleted like any other wiki-text. Logologist 03:35, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Ogolnie przydalo by sie rozbudowac artykuly o krolach (dosc dawno nad nimi pracowano) jak i History of Poland - chyba jestem juz przewrazliwiony, ale co chwile widze Holy Empire to Holy Empire tamto itd. jak by nic innego w Polsce sie nie dzialo, poza polityka zagraniczna w kontekscie z Holy Empire...:)--Emax 13:46, Jan 8, 2005 (UTC)
