Neowin.net is a technology news site mostly focused on Windows and PC-related topics. Neowin runs under the slogan of "Where unprofessional journalism looks better".

The site covers many different sections, each of which has its own colour scheme of 'technology world' including:

  • Main (Blue) - is on current events as pertaining to Microsoft, Apple Computer, Intel, AMD, and other PC hardware and software manufacturers.
  • Software (Green) - chronicles mostly Windows shareware and freeware, including any updates or beta releases.
  • Gamers (Grey) - news on both PC and console gaming, such as new releases and console hardware.

Neowin was started as a hobby in October 2000. One of Neowin's claims to fame is being the subject of the most viewed story on Slashdot ever.

Neowin forums

Neowin also has an active technology forum consisting of over 75,000 members and over 3 million posts. Neowin runs Invision Power Board.

Whilst the primary focus is Microsoft and Windows-centric, it maintains a number of sub-forums for various other discussions including:

  • Latest technology electronic, devices, gadgets and other hardware.
  • Wallpapers, Icons and Windows Visual Styles
  • Console and PC gaming
  • Dicussion of real world events (primarily American-focused)
  • Hardware related topics, such as overclocking.
  • Mozilla Firefox related discussion.
  • Linux and Mac technology issues, even though the website as its name suggests is focused on (Neo)Windows related news.
