History

General Information

The school rivals of Byrd Middle School are George H. Moody Middle School, Tuckahoe Middle School, and Pocahontas Middle School. The clubs offered at Byrd are Drama, Forensics, Law Enforcement, Young Authors, Digital Media, French, Spanish, FCCLA, Sports for Teens, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Knowledge Master Open.

Schedule

Byrd Middle School runs on a block schedule. This means that there are four classes a day, each one lasting an hour and thirty minutes long. Students have four classes one day, and the next day, they have four different classes. These days are known as Day 1 and Day 2.

iBooks

Byrd is part of the Henrico County iBook program. Each student in the school gets an iBook G4 several weeks after school opens. These iBooks are brand new as of 2006.
