Archiving

Hi! I noticed you archived your talk page, but it was also done manually. It's all cool if you want to manually do that, but there are also multiple bots that are easy to set up that will automatically archive your talk page. If you want to set those up, I can help you or just set it up myself. The bots are ClueBot III and Lowercase sigambot III. Set up instructions can be found on those pages. Just a thought! Cheers

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well A. MarnetteD|Talk 19:33, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

House by the Cemetery poster

Hey @Andrzejbanas: I was wondering about the House by the Cemetery artwork you reverted, and why it has the empty purple-bordered box above the key art—I have seen these on several poster uploads, mainly for Italian horror films, and don't understand what they are—moreover, I'm wondering if it's necessary to use these version of the poster(s) if there are alternate versions that don't have it. The empty box adds nothing of value and if nothing else, it extends the length of the infobox for no real purpose. Cinematerial has an alternate Italian-language poster for House by the Cemetery that contains the same artwork as the aforementioned one, but without the needless blank box above it. --Drown Soda (talk) 06:31, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

Hey hey @Drown Soda:, I'm a bit more focused on using posters which I know aren't cropped. I believe if we are saying something is the poster for a film, we shouldn't use a cropped version if possible. Looking at some stuff on cinematerial, it is pulling information from people just googling posters online. Based on sites that specifically sell posters (i.e:

Your Two Cents

Hey there, it's been a while. If I remembered correctly, I think you were opposed to using Toho Kingdom as a source for some kaiju-related articles. A topic was been brought up in the Godzilla franchise talk page to bring up a consensus to whether or not to use the site as a source. I think your two cents would be beneficial to the dialogue established. Armegon (talk) 10:26, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Nazi zombies

I try my best to add information to the list article "Nazi zombies". It lists the Films & Television, Video Games, and Books & Other, sources of Nazi Zombie related materials. I have tried my best to make it a better, more complete list. Other people keep coming along to vandalize the page, and delete relevant information. It is so hard to try and make a single article better when others just try to keep tearing down my efforts. I have tried to do non bias contributions, and list all the relevant information in the list of "Nazi Zombie" horror pop culture sources. Someone even tried to claim a copyright issue on the image of a "Nazi Zombie" that was shown on the article. I was 100% the creator of that image. There was no copyright violation, but the image was deleted anyways. I made a Nazi Zombie horror movie. I was just trying to make the article better by listing all the Movies, Video Games, and Comic Books that relate to Nazi Zombies. To make it a better list article.ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 14:34, 18 April 2020

I try to be constructive and add information, when others try to be Fascists over what they think their stupid rules are, and delete relevant information. how about you try to be a constructive person, and stop trying to tear the world down. There were other people that were good people that added info to the article. I didn't revert their edits.ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 14:48, 18 April 2020

I don't think assuming the world is against you here. If there are rules it should be clear which are the ones to follow. Just like trying to build anything, it would be better to follow the rules which include having reliable sources, yes, even in list articles @ZombiieHorrorMOviie13:. Andrzejbanas (talk) 09:01, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Again, Bad People came along and deleted a good article, "Don't Play No Game I Can't Win" was a good article, and A-Holes deleted it. I do not "seem to think if anyone edits or changes your edits, they are vandalizing". Some people changed my edits for the better. The vandalism is deleting information, or whole articles. You came here to this article, "Nazi zombies" and deleted information from the intro. You also are just trying to tear everything down and delete it all. If you want your sourcing requirements, how about you add them to the article yourself? How about you go google search all the movies, TV shows, Video Games, and books, and do all the sourcing for them. Instead of deleting information and whole articles. How about you try to be a good constructive person, and not a negative bad destructive person? The only problem here is you attempting to vandalize pages, and delete them all together. ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 10:46, 19 April 2020

Okay, I left your Fascist "Rules-Nazi" needs sourcing banner. But, please just stop from deleting the relevant information to the article. I still feel that the Needs Sourcing banner is vandalism to the page. It is added to say that something is wrong with the article. Added by someone that isn't trying to make the article better. Added by someone that just wants to rub dirt onto the article instead of cleaning it up to make it shine. If you wanted to make it better, you should have instead have done your own research to add sourcing, that only you seemed to want in the first place. Instead, you just wanted to rub dirt onto the article to make it worse, by slapping your banner onto it. Anf, that isn't all you tried to do. You also tried to delete relevant information, besides adding the banner ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 13:22, 19 April 2020

Changing the format, deleting relevant information. "Nazi Zombie Battleground" had 5 titles. I at least included them all to tell the reader that those different titles were all the same movie. You are just butchering the whole article. You even deleted information that I used sourcing on. You are the bad person here. I was trying to be a good person, and give in, to try and comply with adding sourcing. Tried to do re-writes with correct information, when you added sourced information that was still incorrect. God, this whole mess is all your fault. You went and butchered an article. You didn't improve things, you made them worse. You seem to enjoy being combative, and butchering other people's work and effort. The truth. ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 15:18, 19 April 2020

You did work hard on it. And so am I except I'm not violating Misplaced Pages:Verifiability. I'm trying to keep as much content as you have included (and am learning some new things along the way). I'm not sure how venting to me is going to change my mind on the fact that the article needs sources. Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:23, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

All your fault. You butchered the article. The "Films & Television" section doesn't even have the movies listed in the proper release year order anymore. You are messing up the whole article. It had the movies listed in the correct order, which you have screwed up. All your fault. You couldn't just leave things alone in the first place. You had to go and ruin it all. The truth. ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 15:32, 19 April 2020

I'm more curious why the old version mixed television and film without a source, included shorts and films that weren't released or even made such as Worst Case Scenario. How does that help? Also I'm including a source for all the years of release if I can find them in the article so I'm not sure what you mean.Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:36, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

I am going to just give up. I am quitting. The user, "Andrzejbanas", butchered the article I was working on. I was going to add more films, and video games, and printed materials to the list. The user, "Andrzejbanas", came along and deleted way too much relevant information to the subject matter in the article "Nazi zombies". He mixed up the order of the films, which had been ordered by release date. The whole article has been butchered by the user, "Andrzejbanas". I tried to fix it up, and improve the overall quality, but he kept combating my efforts. He kept trying to undermine everything, and succeed in butchering the article. I am now done with Misplaced Pages all together. I have given up. I will not try to add any more contributions to Human knowledge, when people like "Andrzejbanas" just want to censor, vandalize, and tear everything down. You win, small minded Fascist people. I have given up.ZombieHorrorMovie13 (talk) 15:48, 19 April 2020

Blood and Black Lace

Hello Andrzejbanas, you reverted my edit yesterday.

Original poster in the article in Italian

Producing countries Italy, France and Germany

Directed by Mario Bava - Italian

Produced by Massimo Patrizi and Alfredo Mirabile - both Italien

Screenplay by Marcello Fondato, Giuseppe Barilla and Mario Bava - all Italien

Story by Marcello Fondato - Italian

Music by Carlo Rustichelli - Italien

Cinematography Ubaldo Terzano - Italien

Edited by Mario Serandrei - Italien

Original title: Sei donne per l’assassino

And language English?? Really? Where is the reference for this?

References for language Italian:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058567/ I know not the best reference

https://www.rogerebert.com/streaming/the-politics-of-murdered-and-murderous-women-part-1-mario-bavas-blood-and-black-lace

Please undo your edit. Regards --Serols (talk) 08:05, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

(Merge of contributions)

Hi Serols. Although I agree with you its an Italian production, Tim Lucas, who wrote an entire comprehensive documentary on Bava states that the films script was written in English and the cast spoke English on the set (its in the prose of the article). Sounds a bit convoluted for a production four non-English production countries, but that is why I reverted your edit. Andrzejbanas (talk) 09:35, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello Andrzejbanas, please lead the discussion where it started.
That is the only source that says so, all others write language: Italian.
All other Wikipedias write Italian:
https://pt.wikipedia.org/Sei_donne_per_l%27assassino
https://fr.wikipedia.org/Six_femmes_pour_l%27assassin
https://pl.wikipedia.org/Sei_donne_per_l%E2%80%99assassino
https://pt.wikipedia.org/Sei_donne_per_l%27assassino
https://de.wikipedia.org/Blutige_Seide
They are all wrong, only Misplaced Pages.en is correct? Think you don't really believe that now.
Again, please undo your edit, otherwise I'll do it. Thanks and Regards --Serols (talk) 10:53, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
I won't and it shouldn't be removed. Also, all those articles are not sourced. Ours is the only one that's per WP:RS and WP:OR. Andrzejbanas (talk) 10:57, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
@Materialscientist: sorry for pinging you, but we need a third opinion here. Can you help us please. Regards --Serols (talk) 11:28, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
I've made a discussion point of it on the films talks page. Probably best to continue the conversation there. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:42, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Stop Stalking me

I don't know why you are harassing me, but every day you keep deleting all my edits and writing nasty things on my talk page about how I am intentionally vandalizing wikipedia. I think you are stalking me or harassing me for some reason, and I am asking you not to write any more to my talk page. If you persist in cluttering up my talk page and harassing me, I will seek help from an administrator to prevent the harassment. I will report you for harassment. Do not write to my talk page again! If you don't like my edits, report me to wikipedia but do NOT write to me again.FrankensteinsDad (talk) 17:22, 14 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by FrankensteinsDad (talkcontribs)

Your editing patterns continue to be adding material that's against the rules of Misplaced Pages, even after I've explained why they don't follow the rules you continue to use them again, I've even suggested you seek discussion from WP:FILM. so @FrankensteinsDad:, I'll be happy to stop removing or editing them, but you have to add material that actually reflects the content of your sources, which you have been very obviously been misinterpreting or using citing inappropriately. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:28, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

I don't work for you. In fact, I don't even get paid for doing this. I'm sorry as hell that you don't like my edits, but I can't put up with your harassment. If you think I'm purposely vandalizing wikipedia, REPORT ME! Get me thrown off. Have me arrested even! But don't keep posting your nasty comments on my talk page. I don't want to hear how i'm vandalizing wikipedia when I spend hundreds of hours trying to improve the site without getting paid a cent! I don't need the aggravation. So just report me and get my account cancelled, but DO'NT WRITE TO MY TALK PAGE any more. I will consider it stalking and harassment. I will report you for harassment if you keep accusing me of vandalism. Go harass some other poor soul. FrankensteinsDad (talk) 17:47, 14 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by FrankensteinsDad (talkcontribs)

There are thousands of people editing wikipedia, but you follow me every day from page to page, nitpicking and second guessing me on every bit of info I add to the site. That is harassment! If you don't like an edit I do, delete it. If you think I'm intentionally vandalizing wikipedia, then by all means, report me and get me kicked off. But there's no need to clutter up my talk page with dozens of warnings and threats, you're just harassing me. Just delete my work and report me. But again I am asking you DO NOT WRITE TO MY TALK PAGE. I will consider it harassment and I will report it. You're just trying to fill up my talk page with threats and notices pointing out how incompetent I am and how knowledgeable you are, and I don't want to hear it. Just report me and have my account blocked, ok? But LEAVE ME ALONE!!! and do not write to my Talk Page any more!FrankensteinsDad (talk) 18:36, 14 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by FrankensteinsDad (talkcontribs)

@FrankensteinsDad:, I'm not sure how we can communicate to solve issues with articles if you don't want me to post on your talk page, but its relatively standard to give people warnings that can be viewed as vandalism. I'm not trying to call you out and we both seem to have interests in the same material to write about on Misplaced Pages. One goal on Misplaced Pages is to form a consensus and its okay to make mistakes, but when you repeat them, I'm not really sure what to do. Please do not take my warnings personally, I am just trying to maintain the rules so you are not banned/etc. If you feel I'm doing anything in an error, please discuss it with an administrator, I'll be happy to discuss it. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:43, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

You are not my father. No one on wikipedia assigned you to watch over me and constantly delete all my edits and threaten me every time you don't agree with something I write. If wikipedia has appointed you to harass me, please tell them to appoint a different editor to monitor me and you can "communicate" with the thousands of other editors on wikipedia, I'm sure there are many people working on the site who don't mind being bullied and threatened and having all of their edits reverted every day like clockwork. You don't own wikipedia. If the people in charge of the site feel i'm vandalizing it, then let them block my account and I will waste my life at some other endeavor. But you're not my father, and you don't have to obsess over stalking me every day, trying to undo all my contributions. Just stop following me and writing to me, that's all I ask. Don't you have a life? If not, please get one! I will report you for harassment every time you bother me from now on. Any site that can't prevent its editors from being harassed isn't worth contributing to anyway. No sane person would put up with a stalker like this bothering them every day.FrankensteinsDad (talk) 19:19, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

I've posted a follow-up on your page. Also, please refrain for rude comments on my or any talk page here. I'd rather discuss our edits than behaviours here. Please keep in mind WP:GOODFAITH, where we assume editors are trying to make positive changes on wikipedia. Your edits mean well, but they break the rules so they require formatting/clean-up and in some cases removal. I've tried explaining this to you, but I'm not really sure how to re-phrase it so you understand what I'm trying to get at here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:34, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Jam on Revenge

Hi... just a quick question, do you think the title of this album should be Jam On Revenge, with the "on" capitalized? It strikes me from reading the article that the artists use "jam on" throughout their productions as a phrasal verb "to keep on jamming", and not in the sense of putting jam on top of revenge, so the title is "the revenge of Jam On Productions" – that's my reading of it. Richard3120 (talk) 16:26, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply, I just wondered if as the article creator you had more information about the album and group than I did, I didn't want to change anything without being sure. I'll see if I can find out anything else that would give us a definite clue one way or the other - I don't think a rename is a pressing issue at the moment. Skin of the South

The Galbraith source is outdated, published in 2008. The latest Honda book by Ryfle and Godziszewski, published in 2017, refers to the film by that title in multiple chapters. So we have a reliable and fresher source to cite the English title under, which is exactly what I did in the lead. Armegon (talk) 22:07, 20 June 2020 (UTC) @Armegon:, Galbraith's book goes specifically into detailing what films had English titles and not. Does the 2017 book actually state how they used titles? It's common for writers to use English names even if they are directly translated one, but we shouldn't apply a title to a film that wasn't presented it that way. Andrzejbanas (talk) 22:09, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Honda TV wikitable

Is it truly necessary to revert back to the old edit for the sake of illustrating the episodes that Honda directed? If the latter is so important, we can list the Honda-directed episodes in an EFN next to the episode count in the notes column. It's overkill to list the airdates of every single Honda-directed episode when a year column would suffice. Noting the channel where it aired on is redundant and trivial to English readers who likely aren't familiar with those channels. If the channels are so important, then we can list them in the same efn as the episodes list. The current TV wikitable is a mess. We should go by the recommendations of WP:FILMOGRAPHY. Armegon (talk) 22:52, 20 June 2020 (UTC) I'm happy to remove the networks which aren't too important, but I think the episodes in question would be of interest to our readers. I would keep the original release dates as well as it gives specific details of when his work premiered. These episodes aren't going to get unique articles any time soon, so I don't think it hurts anything. I'd say its a bit of a stretch to call it a mess, what parts of WP:FILMOGRAPHY are we or aren't we following here? Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:15, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

So we are in agreement to remove the non-essential networks. As for the others. Part of why I feel the current table is a mess is because the airdates and episodes are stacked and stacked upon each other, generating one rowspan after another that excessively extends the table. It comes off as unorganized. WP:FILMOGRAPHY's recommendation keeps the table simple and contained. Like I said, we can still retain the airdates and episode lists in the new table through an EFN. Like this:
Year Title Director Notes
1971 The Return of Ultraman Yes 5 episodes
  1. "Charge of the Monsters" - Airdate: April 2, 1971
    "Takkong's Great Revenge" - Airdate: April 9, 1971
"Operation Monster Rainbow" - Airdate: May 14, 1971
    "SOS Monster Island" - May 29, 1971
"The Five Ultra Pledges" - Airdate: March 31, 1971
The actual expanded notes will be shown below the article. Not on top of the table like it shows here. Feel free to remove the table. I only added it as an example to my proposal. Armegon (talk) 00:04, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
Well, what do you think? It's a solid compromise that combines the old edit and the new edit. Armegon (talk) 04:53, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Viking Crown albums

A tag has been placed on Category:Viking Crown albums requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Liz 14:32, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Action film

How do I explain to you that the various genres you removed here had many incoming links? You could have at least left them as bullet points with anchor links. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:26, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:. Then unlink them. If we have a genre that we can't back-up, we shouldn't be linking them. If we can, then get sources and re-add them. Either way, I think we should move the argument to the talk page of the article. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:32, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Danger: Diabolik

Was thinking about the prospect of Diabolik to become a Featured Article. Have you ever thought about nominating it there because I believe it can take a nomination. GamerPro64 02:03, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

I've been tempted to make some articles I've worked on to push them for a FA @GamerPro64:, but I've always felt they weren't good enough. I think the only thing Diabolik might really be weak in is its actual filming section, but failing that, I'd be happy to try to give it a push. Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:52, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Great. Maybe it would need a Peer Review first. GamerPro64 04:10, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi! Given the expansions I've made on the article lately, would a FA review be more viable now, or would there need to be further work done? PatTheMoron (talk) 13:24, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Question

This is embarrassing to ask given my years editing on Wiki, but what is "prose"? I keep seeing that word in talk pages. I googled it but I feel like that may have a different definition to the wiki definition. Armegon (talk) 22:56, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

@Armegon:, haha no worries. Prose is the just text as a whole. Am i using it in a context that doesn't make sense? I can explain it further if you need more help Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:28, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
A little more context would be appreciated, if you don’t mind :) Armegon (talk) 03:18, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
Sorry for the slow reply. I'm basically saying its the writing. Perhaps if you say it as a sentence, or read it somewhere you don't understand, I can make it more clear @Armegon: Andrzejbanas (talk) 08:04, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

"Acid Tracks"

Thank you so much for restoring this article... I'd been working on it in my sandbox since the redirect, because for those who know it's clearly it's one of the most influential electronic dance music tracks of all time, and it's ridiculous that it didn't have its own article while thousands of barely notable songs do. I have some more legacy text that I can add to the article, but I'll wait until you're done editing, in case I cause an edit conflict. Richard3120 (talk) 16:31, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Your welcome! Yeah I got into a frenzy of updating after seeing how such a popular article did not even have a stubby article. I think I'm generally done for now if you want to add things. Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:54, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Eazy Duz It

There has been many sources over the years that it was released on Sept 16. Even Discogs confirm the release date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.147.78.75 (talk) 15:50, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Refer to my comment on the talk page of the article. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:21, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
It looks like half of what I come across have a Nov' 88 release date, but it appears on CD releases from what I come across. Regarding Sep 13/16, I would assume those were the on cassette and vinyl as the earliest possible releases. Same with Straight Outta Compton on vinyl/cassette being the original and CD released later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.203.10.165 (talk) 16:11, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
Interesting. Can you tell me your sources for this? Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:13, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
On Amazon the releases were for cassette/LP were 9/16. On Ebay (for CD) and that book, it was 11/23. But knowing you, that ain't good enough.
Yeah fair enough. Makes it tricky to pin point this stuff down. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:17, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

So all the sources that shows both release dates ain't enough? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.203.11.66 (talk) 16:55, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Just finding two release dates does not mean one is more correct than the other. I can provide several more, so we need one that clarifies this. Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:58, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Ok. Where are the sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.147.68.180 (talk) 16:21, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Book source as stated in article
AllMusic November 26, 1988
RIAA just says 1989.So there you go. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:06, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
That's it? You said before that Discogs isn't reliable. But are those sites as accurate and reliable? I notice ISRC, the date Jan 1. Any album with an unknown release date has Jan 1. But any date that shows otherwise is fan-based. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.147.68.180 (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
AllMusic is one of the largest music databases online. It does not take information from user sources without any content and has been used as a source from several sources from The New York Times and Microsoft music players. It's very much reliable. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:11, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
Seems like it does. It isn't that reliable as a source. There's actually been criticism and skepticism of AllMusic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.147.68.180 (talk) 20:03, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
There is some, but that was predominantly for genre discussions (if there are others, please show me). Regardless, with very little indepth research we have found about four different sources and the one that actually specifically states where the information is from, is the book. For the record, we should probably move this conversation to the talk page of the album. Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:58, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
And just only one book. And there are two other books, one being Dr. Dre's Biography showing it came out in Sept. And RateYourMusic shows that month as well.
What's the Dr. Dre book? Also, RateYourMusic is another user-based fan site that takes in submissions. I would suggest reading WP:RS before suggesting other sources to get confirmation for these types of things. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:51, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
https://www.google.com/books/edition/Dr_Dre/IxE6AQAAIAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=0. Also, what makes you think AMG is that reliable? It's no more different from RYM is Discogs. The user-generated content I see on the latter sites are from comments and reviews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.147.68.180 (talk) 14:52, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
If you want to check that, I would take up with WP:ALBUMS etc. It's been established as fine there outside a few bits and bobs. I know we don't use the genre field. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:28, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Acid Tracks

Just to acknowledge, really great work on this. It was always amazing to me that one of the most seminal and important tracks of the last 40 years was alternating between a stub and a redirect. You have done a great job in both conveying its almost by accident genesis, and slow build cultural importance. Ceoil (talk) 15:31, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! I've received a few comments like this so I'm glad others have clicked in on it. There's a few more tracks like this one I'd like to cover. It's so funny how so many of these songs have changed have relatively complicated histories. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:58, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Well, without the track we wouldn't have had Acid House or raves. And it really resonates, even today. The first time I heard it was c 1989, and my mind almost melted...what am I listening to, how on earth did they do this??!! I have a few more book sources on the history of the track, so may add in the next week or so. Ceoil (talk) 16:17, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
ps, Stakker Humanoid is another one with a very good back story, currently not covered by its article. Also, how come Shoom is a red link! Anyway, thanks again for the work. Ceoil (talk) 16:20, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Indeed about Shroom! I'm surprised "Move Your Body" also has no article either for that matter (i'm not as crazy about that track but...still a big-ish track right?) Lotta late 1980s dance classics to seek out. Andrzejbanas (talk) 08:12, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Have made an attempt at Shoom, if you have other source or could help. Ceoil (talk)

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Hello. I apologise to bother you, but if you don't mind, I would like to ask a question. I propose to add the information regarding Monty Python and the Holy Grail as a parody of costume movies' clichés. I would support it with the following sources: the Monty Python's official website ("The movie sends up costume picture clichés"), the New York Times article ("it manages to send up the legend, courtly love, fidelity, bravery, costume movies"). Like Monty Python's Life of Brian, The Holy Grail would be then included in the "British parody films" category. You are an experienced user, and you contributed in Life of Brian, so I would like to discuss it with you. Could you help me with that, please? Thanks a lot! --89.66.254.10 (talk) 18:05, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

List of horror films of 2006 and others

I saw you reverted PoisonOnHisLips's edits on List of horror films of 2006 and I looked through their various additions to "List of horror films of X year" articles and none of them are horror films. Further none of the references this person is adding call them horror films. 9 out of 10 times the word "horror" doesn't even appear in the reference and that 10th time it is in a context speaking of the horror of a situation and not calling the film horror. I reverted most of them after looking through the references but they seemed to to just wait a few hours after you reverted them to do it again so I don't know if the entries will be restored by the time you read this. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:The Business (band) albums

A tag has been placed on Category:The Business (band) albums requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages.

Hi there, I like a lot of your work on the Blood and Black Lace article, and have made some expansions and corrections of my own. I have also nominated the article for GA status, although I think there is potentially more work to be done, as I'm concerned with the writer's credit in the infobox, although reviewers might be able to give their own suggestions. Thanks! PatTheMoron (talk) 06:47, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Hey @PatTheMoron:. Thanks for tackling a copy-edit. I was going to submit it for a GA-review but I had submitted it for a copy-edit initially. Looks like it's gone through all that. I went through your edits and everything seems hunky dory. I'm not too concerned about the writing edits in the infobox. The screenwriting history per Curti's book on the film showcase that its very unclear who exactly wrote it and some credits seem to be likely fabricated based on Bertrand Tavernier's statements, so they should be taken with a grain of salt. I've had other articles in the past where credits were considered unclear and I generally think the best solution is to follow standard infobox guidelines. That being that the infobox should reflect the information in the article in a simple and clean manner, if it can't, then it probably shouldn't. Andrzejbanas (talk) 11:21, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Cheers! The other main thing I think could be added is a track listing for the soundtrack. Even though we sometimes butt heads with regards to our edits, I'm glad we're in agreement on the state of this article. PatTheMoron (talk) 11:41, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes! :) I'm glad we are able to work together. haha. The soundtrack is a tricky one as it's honestly a relatively obscure soundtrack with little information on its release and is not readily available (even if it took years for a full score to be released, standard stuff from some older genre films). I don't think it's 100% essential for the article. I know I've added it in the past to films like Eyes Without a Face, and I dig the score, but I don't think it's 100% needed. Andrzejbanas (talk) 11:44, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

All good - with regards to the Masked Killer screenshot, I get your idea with regards to the info that should be beneath it and the colour timing, but I can't overwrite the current file with a screenshot from the Arrow Blu-ray - do you think it'll be fine if I just upload an entirely new image for it, or just stick with it? PatTheMoron (talk) 11:47, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

I mean, depends on what we are trying to say with it. I believe what you were saying before with the statement is that its killer is a masked black-gloved psychopath of gialli history, but I don't think it really accurate that it set the template per se (as stated, several Krimi's and several Italian comics featured similar villains), not to mention there's black-gloved unknown killers in The Girl Who Knew Too Much and I Vampiri too! Gah!). The killer in this film has kind of an awesome look to him, and I was trying myself at one point to shoe him into the article, but I couldn't find any concrete things. Some people have suggested the faceless look had influenced Carpenter to do Michael Myers, but way back (in 2006(!)) when i was working on the Eyes Without a Face article, Carpenter seems to say he doens't know where the idea came from, but suggested maybe Eyes Without a Face. I'm kind of more comfortable with specific relations and authors admitting influence than assumptions that seem to contradict what the creators say. Hell, Carpenter might not have even seen this one. I uhh, went off on a bit of a tangent there, but yeah, if you want to add it with a specific statement, it would depend on what were are trying to say and illustrate. Like, I included the blood pooling in the tub scene at the bottom as it is specifically referenced by a few major filmmakers, I feel that could pass for a copywritten image, y'know? Andrzejbanas (talk) 11:53, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

I probably will get a screengrab from my own Arrow Blu-ray of the same scene. Part of the reason I mentioned in the caption that Unger doubled for both Mitchell and Bartok was because, from what I can recall, The Masked Killer started a trend of a killer who was not only multi-identity, but multi-gendered. I'll have a scan through some of Lucas' material and the Arrow special features, specifically the "Gender and Giallo" video essay to see if it comes up, since the multi-identity/gender aspect was one of the biggest influences on The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. PatTheMoron (talk) 12:04, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Good point. I know it's totally against wiki standards, but doing this (especially with such a striking image no doubt) is going to spoil this film for countless readers. ;) I know there is no rules against that on wikipedia, but even when i'm just scrumming through an article, i tend to avoid reading plot sections to avoid spoilers myself. If you can add proper expansion on it, I think it could be alright (probably in the legacy section more so though). Honestly, the image itself isn't 100% necessary for understanding that factor of the genre, we know the person is masked and unidentifyiable, is it really required to have an image shown to illustrate that it hides the gender? Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:09, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

How about this as a example? "Gofreddo Unger (doubling for Cameron Mitchell and Eva Bartok) as The Masked Killer. Tim Lucas has noted that the depiction of a "split identity" villain - an evolution from the split personality present in such films as Psycho - predates its later use in the Scream franchise, while Michael MacKenzie has noted that the disguising of the character(s)' gender would become a recurring element in other gialli, particularly the films of Dario Argento." 12:22, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

I mean, they did it first, but it's not like Scream franchise is specifically influenced by that. I think maybe this information would belong better in the giallo article. It's not really needed as an image either so far to understand the context. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:32, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Okay, I might come back to it if I have another idea regarding the use of the image. PatTheMoron (talk) 12:34, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Sure. maybe bring it up on the talk page there. Thanks for chatting it out first. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:36, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

I decided to put the info under the image on the giallo page instead for the time being. PatTheMoron (talk) 12:40, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Ok, I added those dates again because I misunderstood the edit summary, sorry. --Blueberry72 (talk) 13:37, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

JPL on Diabolik

I can understand your concern with regards to bias in JPL's quote about Diabolik, but even though it's especially flattering towards the film, I think it is important to present his view on the film, especially with regards to its frequent framing as Barbarella's less-known but better-regarded brother. PatTheMoron (talk) 03:21, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm not against him saying this, but it feels a bit promo-y. If you can find a decent way to sneak it in sure, but placing it as big block quote seems a bit much and I can't see a way to squeeze it in without it just being a bit shoved in there. Y'know? Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:22, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Could I perhaps use the block quote, but drop his last sentence "I think Diabolik probably is the masterpiece"? I think that it becomes less promo-y that way. PatTheMoron (talk) 03:27, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Eh, I just feel like it's kind of a weak quote. He's pulls a quote from "a book" (what book?) and just state hes agrees with it, but doesn't state why. I find it interesting as a fan, but I really don't think it's as revealing or important to readers and just feels like a way for fans to pat themselves on the back for liking this film. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:30, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Ah, okay. I might leave it alone for now. PatTheMoron (talk) 03:31, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

It is not hard for me to look up for sources, and I did, but seems it's even simpler for you to remove what's already sourced. If the article mentioned this film as simply "horror", I consider it a vandalism from your side to remove entirely any mentions of horror genre in the definition and categories.--Zukazaka (talk) 17:37, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Metal Storm

Can you tell me (mostly out of curiosity) where http://www.metalstorm.net/pub/article.php?article_id=68 is listed as an editable wiki?

Sure. Perhaps I was wrong calling it a wiki, but it appears to be a power by message boards and run by a group of enthusiastic fans rather then be a notable publication. They seem to do great work but it's source as a reliable source seems questionable just based on how they run. It's tricky with these metal-based scenes. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Kill Baby Kill

Hi again - do you think much work needs to be done on Kill, Baby, Kill before it can be put up for a GA nomination? There are some areas that could be expanded, but I think it at least covers everything of interest related to the film. PatTheMoron (talk) 09:54, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey Hey. I have about two GA's going at the moment, i'd like to at least give the reception section a do-over for Kill, Baby, Kill and maybe submit it for a copy-edit first. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Understood - I'll see what else I can contribute in the meantime. Afterwards, it might be worthwhile for us to really give The Whip and the Body a good hot crack. PatTheMoron (talk) 13:38, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Whip and the Body could definitely use an overhall as could A Bay of Blood (not that it's bad, but needs a tidy up!). The sad thing is I haven't actually seen those two films yet! Eep! Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:44, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, at least you can fall back on me in that regard (I'll probably need to write Whip's summary)... hope you enjoy them once you get around to them! PatTheMoron (talk) 02:36, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

As another point, I'm thinking this image (https://screen-slate-rails.herokuapp.com/system/images/W1siZiIsIjIwMTcvMDcvMDcvMTcvMDQvMTIvMGFjOWYzMmYtZGIzMS00YTRhLTgzNTMtMTI3ZWRiMDE4ZDc0L0ZlYXR1cmVkLTE3MDcxMS1LaWxsQmFieS5qcGciXV0/Featured-170711-KillBaby.jpg?sha=1fda958f55d80914) might be a better example of what to illustrate in the legacy section with regards to Melissa's influence, since here (unlike my first attempt) she's holding her white ball. PatTheMoron (talk) 08:57, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
I feel like there isn't really an image that states her influence too well because you can describe how she looks without it. Perhaps if you had some text backing up the androgynous/unique look of Melissa, it might make it more copyright-friendly. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:09, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
