Ableton Live
I just added a section on Sasha's present use of Ableton Live for his live sets. He seems to be the first major DJ routinely mixing with a computer instead of decks, so it really sets him apart from other DJ's. This is my first major edit, so I hope it's appropriate! — Nogard5 20:52, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Are there any citations for this?--Paul E. Ester 16:10, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- It is widely known in the EDM community that sasha uses Live, ive seen his monitors and he was running Live, plus there's a lot of pictures on the net with him using it, pluus pluus, I think is mentioned on Ableton's site. Ivand Olivero 21:16, 4 June 2006 (EST)
- I'm doing some major rewriting, sourcing and everything. If anyone has any especially useful links to articles/interviews or whatever involving Sasha, that'd be great. Info regarding Sasha and Digweed's relationship, touring, and stuff about Sasha's youth would be especially useful. Wickethewok 22:17, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Draft
I put up what I have so far. I realize that the citations aren't in the correct format, but I will fix that in later versions. Any resources, online articles, other sourced information, etc. would be awesome! Wickethewok 22:54, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okies, I completed what I needed to do on my subpage, so this is no longer undergoing a rewrite elsewhere. Wickethewok 21:20, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
GA Nomination
I've nominated this for Good Article for hopes of feedback and getting some recognition for it. The peer review didn't generate any user feedback aside from automated feedback. I'd like to get this up to FA status, but can't really do that if I never get any feedback/other editors involved in this. Wickethewok 03:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- I saw your comment and just thought i'd say that you haven't done anything wrong by nominating it for a GA, just taking a cursory glance at it, the article seems GA worthy, but since its at the top of the list, it wouldn't be fair for me to immedietly review it :/. Good article nominee
I would pass this as a good article but it has two major problems: (1) The second lead paragraph is totally POV. Lead paragraphs summarize teh article. (2) The "Influence" section in only one paragraph, and really should be merged with the Early Years section, since it is expansion (and retread) or that topic.--Esprit15d 18:04, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Heya thanks for the feedback. I merged the "Influence" section throughout to appropriate locations. I also attempted to fix the second lead paragraph. Please tell me if you have any further suggestions. Wickethewok 18:21, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
date format
according to the manual of style the birthdate should be in () like:
- Serena Williams (born September 26, 1981)
Course it's pretty dorky to read:
- Sasha, born Alexander Coe (born September 4, 1969), is a Welsh DJ
What about:
- Alexander Coe (AKA Sasha) (born September 4, 1969), is a Welsh DJ
I think the way it is written now would imply Sasha is his legal name which I don't think you've indicated, and is it more normally dj sasha or just sasha? The disambigulation page implies dj sasha.
BTW amazing work with the article so far. thanks. --Paul E. Ester 19:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, well, Sasha is a common nickname or a "diminutive version" of "Alexander", so I think Esprit15d's change to
- Alexander "Sasha" Coe (born September 4, 1969)
is consistent with nicknames (I've never read anything that's lead me to believe he actually legally changed his name. Most often in articles I've read, CDs/records, and such, he is almost always referred to as "Sasha" as opposed to "DJ Sasha". I don't think any of his mix album covers/credits have ever called him "DJ Sasha". As a side note, over the past ten years or so, prefacing your name/artist name with "DJ" has become a bit passe. GA Nom
Good article, nicely referenced, good writing, but most of the images need (better) fair use rationales. -Dark Kubrick 15:51, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Alritey, I'll write in some more detailed descriptions of fair use. Wickethewok 18:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Okies, I think I've written some fair-use claims up to the par of music bio FAs/GAs I've looked at. Wickethewok 19:02, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
The album covers and DVD need better ones I think. -Dark Kubrick 19:58, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Are they sufficient now? Thanks for your help guys! Wickethewok 21:20, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm satisfied. -Dark Kubrick 06:01, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome. I re-classified this from GA-actors to GA-bands as I think thats a more accurate description of a DJ. If anyone thinks I'm mistaken feel free to change it. Wickethewok 23:23, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Doesn't seem to be listed at Misplaced Pages:Good articles... (I was going to fix the link). Or am I somehow missing it? --kingboyk 16:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- I guess the guy who passed it forgot to put it in there? I just added it there. Wickethewok 16:58, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Auto Peer Review
The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and may or may not be accurate for the article in question.
Per WP:MOSNUM, there should be a non-breaking space -
between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 18mm, use 18 mm, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 18 mm.- Per WP:CONTEXT and WP:BTW, years with full dates should be linked; for example, link January 15, 2006, but do not link January 2006.
Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)While additive terms like “also”, “in addition”, “additionally”, “moreover”, and “furthermore” may sometimes be useful, overusing them when they aren't necessary can instead detract from the brilliancy of the article. This article has 15 additive terms, a bit too much.Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “Allpigs are pink, so we thought ofa number ofways to turn them green.”
As done in WP:FOOTNOTE, footnotes usually are located right after a punctuation mark (as recommended by the CMS, but not mandatory), such that there is no space inbetween. For example, the sun is larger than the moon . is usually written as the sun is larger than the moon. Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that the it exemplifies some of Misplaced Pages's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 2a.

- Alrite, I fixed all the stuff I could find. I removed a good deal of redundancies I couldn't find any years with full dates that weren't linked properly, nor could I find any inappropriately placed footnotes. Could someone point me to them? Wickethewok 04:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Footnotes 1-4 all have issues :). They should go immediatly after the punctiation. Go ahead and strike out stuff above when its complete. -Ravedave 04:52, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you muchly. I think I got everything except whatever the date linking issue may be. Wickethewok 05:02, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Name
- "Sasha" is a Russian nickname for Alexander that his mother called him. I'm not sure how/if this should be mentioned in the article. Wickethewok 19:43, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
COMMENTS IN ALL CAPS FROM ANON EDITOR
- JAMES ZABIELA INFLUENCED KIMBALL COLLINS? CLEARLY THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE IS COMPLETELY CLUELESS, HAS NO SENSE OF TIME (OR THE FACT THAT COLLINS WAS AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS SUCCESS WHEN ZABIELA WAS STILL AT SCHOOL), AND PROBABLY WROTE THIS WHOLE PAGE AFTER READING A FEW BOOKS!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.11.80.36 (talk • contribs)
- Yes, I did write it after reading a few books. And online articles. And listening to Sasha's music for the past 10 years. I did fix the line in question - I can see how it was misleading. Collins was clearly popular before any influence from Sasha, which is why Collins is described as "already popular". As for whether or not Sasha in fact had an influence on Collins, I suggest you take that up with Bill Brewster, who wrote the book I got that from. Wickethewok 16:27, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

FAC
Good job cleaning this up and making it accessible to a general audience. I learned a lot about Sasha and electronic dance music just by reading the article and wound up wanting to listen to some of his music. I'd love to see it featured on the main page some time. KP Botany 19:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind words! Do you still object on the FAC? Wickethewok 20:15, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, I don't at this point. It's already better than some articles that have recently been on the front page. However, if it appears I still object, because I didn't strike through the correct line, feel free to correct via strike throughs on the FAC page as needed. You still have some work to do, I will post comments, but I enjoyed the article, it's well-written, it's researched properly, it's neutral, the language is rich, the topic is the right scope for an article, and, most amazing! and proper!, you quoted words and phrases that you used from other sources, absolutely necessary, but not always properly done in a lot of Misplaced Pages articles.
