Ryan James McDonald (September 4, 1930 - February 13, 2020) was an American film and television actor.

Life and career

McDonald was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his career in 1954, as playing the role of "Prof. Paul Britton #4" in the soap opera television series The Secret Storm.

Later in his career, McDonald appeared in three Broadway plays, as his credits includes, Toys in the Attic, Any Wednesday and Catch Me if You Can.

In 1970s-1990s, McDonald played the role of "Roy", as one of the poker buddies and Oscar Madison's accountant in the television series The Odd Couple, only appearing for the first season. He also played a recurring role in the soap opera television series Days of Our Lives, playing the role of "Scotty Banning from 1971 to 1973. In 1973, McDonald posed for the playgirl magazine. He continued his career, mainly appearing in television programs and sometimes in films, including, Newhart, The Rockford Files, Police Woman, The Doris Day Show, Quincy, M.E., Nanny and the Professor, Hart to Hart, Emergency!, The Greatest American Hero, THe Facts of Life, Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man, Columbo, Here's Lucy, The Streets of San Francisco, Remington Steele, Quantum Leap, Knots Landing and Mannix.

In 1990s-2000s, McDonald played another recurring role in Days of Our Lives, playing the role of the shady lawyer "Chauncey Powell" from 1991 to 1992.

In 2003, McDonald co-starred in the film Slaves of the Realm, playing the role of "Alexander".

Death

McDonald died in February 2020 in Hollywood, California, at the age of 89.
