- No deadline! Thank you! Take your time. The articles are small: Maude Jacques and Cindy Ouellet. I sometimes forget that not all Canadians can speak English very well. But these two can. In fact, Maude was translating for me in Beijing. I tried auto-translating one once, but they delete unless the French is perfect, and mine's terrible. Hawkeye7 (talk) 08:17, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Game hint lines
I came across an article in GamePro about live game counselors and 900 hint lines which has one or two useful pieces of info. The trouble is, I can't seem to find an article on Misplaced Pages where such information might appropriately go. Any suggestions?--Martin IIIa (talk) 20:34, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- There's probably enough coverage to convert Nintendo Power Line into a broader concept of Video Game hint lines, of which the most famous was the Nintendo Power Line: Kotaku, A.V. Club, the line was revived for the NES Mini launch (Engadget, CNet, Polygon), Wikia (unusable as a source but can be used as a base for research), featured in The Wizard, that time when one number was bought by an sex company (N4G, NBC, Wired), Gamasutra, Felicia Day biography, Geek.com, Sierra Hint Line (this is an archive of 1989 Sierra Magazine), Sega, Konami also had their own Hint Lines. ☺ · Salvidrim! · ✉ 20:55, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Quebec articles
You're most welcome! Funnily enough, you caught me right in the middle of wrestling with trying to find adequate sources to get a long-overdue article about the actor and writer Marcel Sabourin done!
I'm one of those editors who, while I don't write French well enough to actually be a contributor on FR as such, I can read it well enough to pull out the important facts from a newspaper or magazine article — and since we do have a problem with a lot of Quebec topics getting inadequately addressed on the English side, I do make an effort to help fill in some of the gaps when I can.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to a database of older French-language newspaper content the way I do for the major English dailies, so I'm mostly stuck with what I can find on Google — which (as with Sabourin right now) isn't always very solid or reliable for people whose peak notability and sourceability was 30 or 40 years ago instead of within the past few years. But I try to do the best I can with what I've got. Thanks again. Bearcat (talk) 20:52, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- Well, if you ever need some help with French translations I'm your guy. I do whatever cleanup and wikifying I can but I'm not that good at creating brand new articles indeed! BAnQ has thousands of archived newspapers. Some source ideas for Marcel Sabourin that are not about specific works (these are too many to list but often not in-depth):

Since you are both the one who moved the page and who archived the case, maybe you know more where this should belong? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 21:14, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the poke! Yeah I histmerged the case archives but didn't realize the already-open cases had later been archived under the original title by the script. Oops! fixed Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 21:45, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, and great that you know what happened in 2015! (sorry for the late reply; I wanted to respond when you answered me, but found out a script was interfering with Convenient Discussions, so I investigated and forgot about this). 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 20:36, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

- Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
- Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the
delete-redirect
userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.
- When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
- Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)
- A community consultation on the Arbitration Committee discretionary sanctions procedure is open until April 25.

Umbrella Corporation
can you unprotect or lower protection? Talk:List_of_Resident_Evil_characters#Splitting_Umbrella. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.194.141.59 (talk) 22:34, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Not an admin anymore. In any case, whether a standalone article meets English Misplaced Pages's threshold for inclusion is a matter than can be discussed regardless of the protection level of the title. The article was merged as the result of an AfD, and that was affirmed with protection after a DRV, so the recommended way to go about this would be to draft your proposed article at Draft:Umbrella Corporation and then submit a new DRV arguing why new drafted version meets English Misplaced Pages's inclusion criteria, surpassing the AfD'ed version. Armageddon outta here!
Hey there! :) You closed the trainwreck Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Armageddon: Tactical Combat, 3000-500 BC back in 2013 - kudos to you for sorting that one out. ;) You redirected Armageddon: Tactical Combat, 3000-500 BC as a result, and I recently moved it to draft space. Do you figure the new version of the article is good enough to move back from drafts into article space? The sources actually present in the article may be light, but the other reviews noted should be able to one day make it much more substantial; regardless, it's a lot better than just two unsourced sentences now. BOZ (talk) 13:02, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- There are plaintext mentions of reviews but what is needed is actual in-line citations to stuff that is said in the actual references. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 14:19, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I will move back to redirect until those can be located. BOZ (talk) 14:22, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- We were able to get access to one of the reviews, so I moved Armageddon back into draft space and added it. I also sought assistance at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request#Need reviews for wargame Armageddon: Tactical Combat, 3000-500 BC to see if anyone can dig up more of those for us. BOZ (talk) 18:33, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Also from that same AFD, we were working on Patrol (board game) in draft space, and so far we have three of the five known reviews in the text and are working on getting copies of the other two. :) BOZ (talk) 13:47, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Wikiproject Video games Newsletter survey
I'm conducting another survey for the Wikiproject Video games Newsletter. If you could leave your thoughts on the matter it would be greatly appreciated. Every response will be compiled into a MOS-Esque answer that balances the thoughts of our top contributors. You're one of them! The question is as follows:
What would you consider the requirements of making a video game series article? What about franchise articles?
If you would like to respond, please ping me here and write your reply. I'll handle the rest. Thanks in advance, Panini! 14:56, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- Series article needs SIGCOV in RS'es that is about the series (and not about the individual games), and at least 4 games or 3 games and a spinoff/other media. A franchise article is the same thing but when the topics includes non-video game media. (This is a pretty abritrary line I'm drawing of course). Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 15:57, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

- Consensus was reached to deprecate Misplaced Pages:Editor assistance.
- Following a Request for Comment the Book namespace was deprecated.
- Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.
- After a Clarification request, the Arbitration Committee modified Remedy 5 of the Antisemitism in Poland case. This means sourcing expectations are a discretionary sanction instead of being present on all articles. It also details using the talk page or the Reliable Sources Noticeboard to discuss disputed sources.

Orphaned non-free image File:Derek Prince.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Derek Prince.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:29, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.

I'm trying to help you
But these problems frustrate me, and that people refuse to think about what I'm saying is even more frustrating. I'm not asking you to take my word for anything. Just read what I have to say and think. I want things to get better. I'm tired of things being so terrible. DesertPipeline (talk) 10:52, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- I've read what you said. I understand your point about the risks of using non-libre software. My point is that you are hurting yourself trying to fight a tiny battle when the entire war has been lost a decade ago. Privacy is dead. Everybody carries a surveillance device everywhere, every word you say or type, everywhere you go, all of your data is stored on countless servers. That's how the world goes. Putting disclaimers on stuff will not effect even the tiniest bit of change. The only truly private place is inside your brain (for now). So enjoy the privacy of your thoughts while you still can. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 11:03, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Believing that certainly helps them, but it doesn't help you. If there really is no way to save ourselves from the oncoming destruction, then at least we can die trying. If you do nothing, you will automatically fail. If you try, there's a chance of success. Even the lowest possibility of succeeding is better than no possibility at all.
