Eric Gordon (born December 25, 1988 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American basketball player. The 6-4 (1.93m) 220 lb. (99 kg) Gordon is playing his senior season at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has committed to play at Indiana University after backing out of his verbal commitment to attend the University of Illinois. He is ranked among the top five high school basketball players in the nation and has been called “the most complete offensive high school arsenal since Kobe Bryant” by some in the media. Gordon is close friends with Derrick Rose of Chicago's Simeon Vocational High School, who is a top ranked high school basketball player of his own.
Recruiting saga
Eric Gordon did not want to attend Indiana University, his dream school, under head coach Mike Davis. He committed to Illinois in November 2005. Gordon was not alone in this decision, as the exodus of in-state talent to other programs was rampant during Mike Davis's tenure at IU. After a coaching change, the possibility of attending his dream school was very appealing to him. Gordon followed his heart and dream and signed to play for coach Kelvin Sampson at Indiana University in the fall of 2006. This has led to much crying by the Illini faithful, and much testosterone flow for kool-aid drinking Hoosier fans like myself.
In my mind, Kelvin Sampson never has, and never will do anything wrong. And anyone who thinks otherwise will endure my wrath. I choose to forget the fact that Kelvin Sampson violated NCAA rules while on the ethics committee of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. In fact, I am blind to all things anti-Hoosier.
Eric Gordon has done nothing wrong in this saga. He should not be blamed. But Bruce Weber should be blamed and criticized for his whining. But remember, Sampson has, and never will, do anything wrong. But Bruce Weber, please quit whining, cuz you are a bad person for doing it.
Oh, did I mention that I will never admit that Sampson will do anything wrong?
Also, the Illwhini are a bunch of whiny turdburglars.
