I apologize to those whom I have insulted or denigrated on this page. Unless this comment violates some policy, I will leave it here as a reminder to myself not to engage in such behavior again. -- Jibal (talk) 23:14, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Personal attacks
You have been here 15 years, I think you already know better. I saw you quote the NPA policy at ANI so I assume you have read it. I assume you have also read If a pattern of lesser personal attacks continues despite the warning, escalating blocks may follow
. I will leave it at that as long as the behavior does not turn into a pattern. HighInBC 02:37, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
The post I am referring to is this one. I am posting here because this is a formal warning about our personal attack policy. It goes on your talk page so that there is a record that you have been made aware of it. Since you have not read it I am recommending that you do read our personal attacks policy.
It is my hopes that this warning will mark the end of this incident and will settle the matter at ANI. HighInBC 02:53, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
There is currently a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Springee (talk) 02:08, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
RE: Conservative Philosopher
Was gonna say something to the effect of: 10 years is a long time, who knows, maybe they're a Bernie supporter now, but then I looked at the deleted user page, whose homophobia makes 7falcon23 seem tame — so probably not. El_C 03:55, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah ... still, I acknowledge that posting my comments there (that is, his talk page) was a personal indulgence that is an abuse of Misplaced Pages. I'm serious about reconsidering my behavior. -- Jibal (talk) 04:07, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds good. In light of that and similar comments, I've closed the ANI complaint with no further action. Hopefully, it'll be smooth sailing from this point on. Good luck! El_C 04:42, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you, and I apologize to you and others whose time I wasted. -- Jibal (talk) 04:48, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Jibal, I want to give credit where credit is due. I saw the retractions and other comments you made. They were appreciated. Springee (talk) 03:00, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Good on you for being gracious, Springee. El_C 11:36, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Content, not conduct on talk pages
Re these two diffs Jibal, Hob Gadling, please don't go too far into criticizing each other's behavior on the article talk page, which is a place for discussions of content and how we cover the article's subject in the article itself. Thank you.
I know there is always this burning need (I have felt it too) to respond to accusations/behavioral missteps in the place they are made, but I would gently suggest that, in the future, it is better to put these rebuttals on the user's talk page, instead of on the article talk page. On the talk page, you can put something neutral like "Please don't criticize my conduct here, this is a page for content." or "please AGF, see your talk page" or "your reasoning is flawed, because X" instead of "you are flawed, because X". Not saying you have specifically done either of these, but I can see that comment train descending rather quickly. Just a friendly tip. --Shibbolethink 20:26, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Not saying you have specifically done either of these
Someone clearly did, but not me. Note that my original comment was "BTW, I respect and appreciate your efforts here at WP and agree with the vast majority of your positions, but I think your comment here is a misfire" and I'm sticking to that. And I said I wouldn't respond further, but HG nonetheless insisted on being rude and tendentiously lecturing me about "Spock dogma" and generally misrepresenting my views on science. You're right, it was hard to ignore his offensive and objectionable behavior, but I realize that it doesn't do anyone any good. In the future I will do my best not to engage with him at all--an unfortunate consequence of the fact that he aims his big guns at friend as well as foe. -- Jibal (talk) 21:23, 20 July 2021 (UTC)- ShibbolethinkP.S. In the future, please don't ping HG to my page (or v.v.). If you want to talk to him, leave me out of it. -- Jibal (talk) 21:30, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Important message
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in edits about, and articles related to, COVID-19, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
