Native Design is an independent full-service design innovation firm of 80 employees with studios in London and San Francisco. History

Founded in 1997 by industrial designer Morten Villiers Warren, Native expanded its services beyond industrial design and engineering into digital experience, technology, and strategy. It now offers a full service innovation practice from research through to technology development and manufacturing for clients across industries including automotive, consumer electronics, telecommunications, computing, biotechnology, FMCG and Internet of things.

Native's relationship with Audi and Bentley begun with developing an HMI for the Audi A8, launched in the A6 model before being deployed across the entire Audi range. The interface was then redesigned for Bentley's Mulsanne luxury saloon.

Ford Motor Company begun working with Native in 2016 to build the Autonomous Vehicle Simulator (AVS). The AVS was a demonstration platform that reimagined transportation choice and business models beyond the SUV. The work generated hundreds of new patents and was honoured the International Design Excellence Gold Award.

Consumer Electronics

The firm's work with Bowers & Wilkins gave rise to industry awards including Red Dot, IDSA and D&AD Silver Pencils for the B&W Ovale 1993, B&W XT 2006, Pressure Vessel Subwoofer 2005, bent wood laminated B&W Nautilus 800, 803, 805 Series 1, 2 & 3 used in Abbey Road Studios, P3, P5 & P7 Headphones and the Zeppelin. The work has been credited with inspiring the 21st century's contemporary shape and iconic sleek aesthetic in audio technology.

Native built innovations including Q Control TV UX, HP Halo Telepresence UX, and the world's first internet connected printer in 2013 after CEO Meg Whitman called for design unification across the business. Since then, Native and HP's design team, led by Stacy Wolff, have collaborated on several products, including Spectre x360 and Omen.

Biotechnology

Coloplast employed Native in 2010 to create the "Design DNA" to restore dignity and alleviate daily hardships of patients with stoma conditions. "Design DNA" was awarded the Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity and IDEA's Gold and Best in Show awards, making Native the first British design firm to win both. Native worked with the engineering team of next-generation sequencing company, Illumina, to design the visual language for their equipment, data reporting and supporting literature. Native developed the design and engineering of the NextGen2000 and redesigned the packaging of Illumina's consumables.
