| Gakhers were never hindu and they came from persia in very low numbers and during khalafat of khalifa UMER bin HATAB they lost war against muslims and later on accepted islam and migrated to india river near potohar and margalla hills and lived here from last thousand of years , few are mistaken and think they were sikhs etc but there original caste is kayani from iran and Gakher khan was there elder who was ruler of salt range area of jhelum in 12 th centuary and later on kayani were known as Gakher khan also . | |||
