User notice: temporary 3RR block

Regarding reversions made on October 26 2006 to Man Beast

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future. The duration of the block is 24 hours. William M. Connolley 17:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Talk page

I just found out we're not supposed to delete stuff from our talk pages, we're supposed to archive it. Apparently you've been told that, and that's what's got me confused because you're the one whose deletions from your talk page made me think it was okay. Please illustrate the Wiki. way by example. Thanks! Shoester 19:00, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, pot? This is kettle. You're black.

Irony: Self-righteously repeatedly calling other people self-righteous. Wow. Shoester 01:41, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Minor edits

You seem to be marking a lot of your edits as minor. What we mark as minor edits are versions that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. So, for example, , with the summary The fact that Creel was born in NYC is not relevant and has never played a part in the character's development. is obviously a disputable edit and should not be marked as minor, since you are disputing additions made by another editor. Generally I just mark spelling corrections or format fixes as minor. Like this one of yours, , which, ironically, you don't mark as minor. The reason this is important is because editors may choose to ignore minor edits when reviewing recent changes. More information is at Help:Minor edit. Anyways, seasons greetings t you and happy editing. Steve block Talk 11:05, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Avengers #4 image

It may have been better to replace the image with a better one. I had just done the same and taken the time to delete a similar, but worse image. --Chris Griswold () 07:29, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Black Bolt

Hi, it seems you're in a bit of a disagreement with CovenantD over this article. Can I sugggest talking with him instead of just reverting over and over? Mister.Manticore 18:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, instead of assuming that will be the case, you should make an effort to explain yourself, that would make for a better show of conduct on your part. Mister.Manticore 20:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Response to your posting

I'm not going to enter discussions with someone who selectively removes other editors' comments from his talk page. --Tenebrae 03:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Then I ask that you go back through your history and reinstate all the postings other editors made in good faith. And I have no idea who "you know who" is. Really, what kind of discussion can anyone have with someone saying things like "you know who"? --Tenebrae 04:00, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Impugning me and referring to User:CovenantD behind his back as "(CxxxxxxxD)" is not a way to have a productive discussion. Please have any discussions with me in public at the site under discussion, whether it be Thor (Marvel Comics) or elsewhere, rather than on my Talk page. Thanks. --Tenebrae 04:09, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
I'd just as soon stay out of whatever squabble you folks are having right now, but I do need to weigh in on the issue of deleting postings from your talk page. As I pointed out in the Incident report, I had treated other postings on my talk page like old e-mail and deleted them too until the issue got brought up during on the Noticeboard. Somehow I'd missed that we're supposed to leave the old messages. I acknowledged this and pointed out that I'd therefore stopped deleting them weeks earlier. Likewise, another user also learned from that discussion. As a matter of fact, I see that user recreated his/her entire talk page history and restored every past post. I was going to stick up for Asgardian and commend him for ceasing from deleting posts from his own talk page once the Noticeboard thing began, but unfortunately I can't. I see that he has deleted something since then. Although you meant CovenantD, I have played a role in this talk page post deletion issue, so I still felt I should speak up.
And why would Tenebrae "know who" you meant? T. probably hasn't studied CovenantD's talk page edit history. Most of us don't follow each other's activities that closely. I only discovered this fresh squabble when I had reason to look at Tenebrae's talk page to check about something else. I still don't know or care who or what started this new snipping at each other, but I do think it's a shame that this is happening when we're still waiting to see what the admins do about that probation issue. If Asgardian had kept as he had, it might have slipped their mind altogether. It still could, for that matter.
I was surprised no one has pursued the probation issue via RfC like Steve Block mentioned. Until I saw this, I figured it was because Asgardian simply hadn't stirred any trouble, so things had moved right along. The edits of Asgardian's that I've noticed have been fine. I haven't happened to see what Asgardian has done wrong in his edits lately. (And I'm not going looking for them either. If I happen to discover them, so be it. Out of all the articles from the three-month edit war, only one is on my watchlist. I wander through the others, sure, but I wander through a lot of articles.) Doczilla 08:39, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Suggestion: If you don't want everyone's posts to clutter your talk page, archive them instead of just deleting them. Yeah, I think it's kind of silly, considering that the entire edit history is an archive when you think about it, but that's the Misplaced Pages way. And when you've got ongoing disputes with people, it will help you demonstrate your serious effort to working with the consensus. Furthermore, you can better make your own case regarding other editors' behavior if you can provide all the past posts in a single, chronologically ordered archive. Like I said, it's just a suggestion. Doczilla 08:55, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I had noticed that it was Tenebrae's post that you deleted. Maybe you should just create a Tenebrae archive and leave the rest here. Feel free to delete my posts if you wish, by the way. I give you permission to reduce that much clutter to your page -- well, if I have the right to delete my own posts by proxy. Until we're told otherwise, assume it in good faith. Doczilla 08:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC) "permission"? Sheesh. Doczilla 08:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Reduce clutter

If you wish to reduce clutter on your talk page you should really do so through archiving, not simply removing. There are bots which will archive your talk page for you and so reduce any clutter, see User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Howto. If you need any help with installation then ask, and if I can't help I'll track down someone who can. Steve block Talk 09:54, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Just to draw your attention to Help:Talk page, especially the section on User pages, where this guidance may prove instructional: "Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages without replying (if a reply would be appropriate or polite) will probably be interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil, and this can become an issue in arbitration or other formal proceedings." Steve block Talk 09:57, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Civility

It's preferable on Misplaced Pages to comment on the article rather than the user. You may need to refresh yourself of Misplaced Pages:Civility, which sets out acceptable topics to discuss when editing. I'm not taking sides in any dispute, I'm simply looking to see any disputes centre on the improvement of the article rather than the behaviour of editors. Thanks for your time and happy editing. Steve block Talk 09:54, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Consensus

What you need to do is generate discussion and build a consensus. Once there is a demonstrable consensus then the protection will be lifted and editors will be expected to keep to the consensus. Currently there is no consensus. The process may take some time given that it is currently the holiday season, editors may not be as available to discuss as usual. I will put up a pointer at wikiproject comics. Steve block Talk 09:54, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Galactus1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Galactus1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Misplaced Pages and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 20:55, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
