:::It's not so difficult to understand. ''21st-century Norwegian monarchs'' is a category inside the category on ''Norwegian monarchs'' in general. With cat-a-lot we can remove redundant categories like the latter from each single article without wasting time by doing it manually one for one. The same goes for 13th-century Norwegian monarchs, 12th-century, etc. As far as edit summaries, the tool doesn't allow me to add them, since it's automatic. For the moment I won't use the tool anymore, I'm learning more about it so I don't make mistakes like the first time.--] (]) 15:29, 20 December 2021 (UTC) | :::It's not so difficult to understand. ::::But again what damage does it do? All articles on Misplaced Pages seem to have practically any categories fitting them on them, so what's so special about this relatively obscure topic that is Norwegian Monarchs? Even if it is in multiple categories that are linked to each other, it's not like it really matters. It just gives people a chance to go to directly to the more general category or a specific one. --] (]) 15:37, 20 December 2021 (UTC) | ::::But again what damage does it do? Eastern Geek, you are invited to the Teahouse!
Hi Eastern Geek! Thanks for contributing to Misplaced Pages. Delivered by HostBot on behalf of the Teahouse hosts 16:01, 6 December 2021 (UTC) |
What are you doing?
You have changed a massive amount of pages from an appropriate category (Norwegian monarchs) to a category of a time period they didn't even live in (10th century). --TylerBurden (talk) 07:27, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'm fixing it right now!--Eastern Geek (talk) 07:29, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
- Right, it appears to be all good now. Be careful with that. :) --TylerBurden (talk) 07:38, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Now you're doing it again. Frankly you are making very clumsy use of whatever tool you are using, or your intentions here are not good. --TylerBurden (talk) 18:37, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- I actually removed redundant categories using cat-a-lot properly. This time I used the tool right. Take for example this edit. Category:Norwegian monarchs is not necessary if an article is under the "21st-century Norwegian monarchs" category, which is included in the general category of Norwegian monarchs. Do you get it?--Eastern Geek (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- I can't say that I do, but I haven't been working with categories much at all on Misplaced Pages. However it doesn't seem redundant to me. Even if it is "included in the general category" what damage does it do that a Norwegian Monarch page has a link to the Norwegian Monarchs category? Not to mention, you offer no reasons in your edit summaries using that tool. --TylerBurden (talk) 15:23, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
