Sorry, misclicked on your name rather than the vandal who'd posted on your talk page. ] (]) 21:18, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi - just following up on the ANI report. I've asked the other editor on their talk page not to be so in your face with warning templates, and to explain their thinking rather than edit warring; I hope you don't mind if I follow up with a couple of pointers for you too? Basically, Misplaced Pages articles should ideally be based around what independent, reliable sources say about a subject. I know if sounds a bit crazy to call 'watching a gameshow' ], but if you're figuring out the rules by watching the show, that's what you're doing - you're watching what happens, interpreting how the game works, and then writing your interpretation up here - we don't do that. My usual advice to editors is that if you can't find it in an independent, reliable source, leave it out of the article - it doesn't belong. So, yeah - I can see why they reverted you, but they didn't go about it in a very collegiate way. Hope this makes sense, let me know if you have any questions. Cheers ]] 17:27, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

I've semi-protected this cotton pickin' talk page for a year. I really don't like protecting user talk pages, especially for such a long time, because obviously it risks collateral damage on innocent editors, but under present circumstances it seems like the least bad option. You may like to consider doing what I have done when I've been in the same situation as you are now. I have created an alternative user talk page, called ], and when my main talk page is protected because of vandalism, I post a message on my main talk page with a link to the other one, inviting editors who can't edit the main page to post on the other one. Obviously the vandals and trolls could just post on the alternative talk page, but in practice for some reason they never do. I don't know why, but maybe there's no fun in trolling if you think it won't be publicly visible. Anyway, whatever the reason, I have used that method several times over the years, and I have found that it really does work, so I would encourage you to consider doing the same. ] (]) 15:30, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Your ONANI report

Hi - just following up on the ANI report. I've asked the other editor on their talk page not to be so in your face with warning templates, and to explain their thinking rather than edit warring; I hope you don't mind if I follow up with a couple of pointers for you too? Basically, Misplaced Pages articles should ideally be based around what independent, reliable sources say about a subject. I know if sounds a bit crazy to call 'watching a gameshow' original research, but if you're figuring out the rules by watching the show, that's what you're doing - you're watching what happens, interpreting how the game works, and then writing your interpretation up here - we don't do that. My usual advice to editors is that if you can't find it in an independent, reliable source, leave it out of the article - it doesn't belong. So, yeah - I can see why they reverted you, but they didn't go about it in a very collegiate way. Hope this makes sense, let me know if you have any questions.
