Vandalism

Please Check this guy: 2A02:587:221C:2C00:1DB4:DD7C:C0F0:49E8 I was checking the other Battles as well. He changed the results of the First Battle of Inonu, Second Battle of Inonu and Battle of Sakarya to inconclusive on the very same day in June. Please check those edits. For Battle of Sakarya, people kept changing it back to original even though he tried changing the result. On the other hand on Battle of First Inonu and Battle of Second Inonu pages, no one reverted it back. Therefore, I deleted his/her edit because he attempted changing the results of other two battles as well. Please limit these pages to prevent further Vandalism. Also the user: Fjhd(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/Special:Contributions/Fjhd), can you check his history as well, he is also the one who changed the results all the time. You can see only thing he did was changing the results of battles for no reason at all on the same day. He changed the Battle of Gediz to Greek victoru even though Greek army retreated and Turkish army captured Gediz. Orignally it was considered as inconclusive until he vandalized the page. He also changed the results of Battle of Sakarya, First Inonu and Second Inonu. Please be more considerate. People always kept changing the results back to the Original. Also, if you read the whole articles everything is explained in detail yet these guys made no contribution to these articles but only thing they did is changing the results, with no explanation or no description in the article. They did not add anything to article to explain the change in results. Only thing they did is changing one word in all of the articles by using the same source without even using that source to explain anything in the articles. If you want I can add a couple of more sources to prove my point but before these guys changed the results randomly, these articles were already informative and consistent with the reults but now they dont make any sense at all.

Welcome

Hello Egsan Bacon and welcome to Misplaced Pages! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more,

Five Pillars of Misplaced Pages

Float around for awhile until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. There are also many great committees and groups that focus on particular jobs. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Misplaced Pages:Translation into English and Misplaced Pages:Cleanup for sloppy articles. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy.

There are a few crucial points to keep in mind when editing. Be civil with users, strive to maintain a neutral point of view, verify your information, and show good etiquette like signing your comments with four tildas like this: ~~~~ If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page or ask the true experts at Misplaced Pages:Help desk. Join WikiProject Koei Warriors Games!

Would you like to join the Koei Warriors Games WikiProject? It is everything Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi! To participate, add your name to the list of participants and apply {{User WPKoeiWarriors}} to your user page.

If you are not sure what a WikiProject is, it is a club of Wikipedians interested in the WikiProject's subject and helping to improve articles of or related to that subject. I saw you greatly contributed to the Samurai Warriors article, so I figured I'd ask if you wanted to participate in Misplaced Pages:Wikiproject/Koei Warriors Games. You do not have to, and neither are you obliged; I am just asking. -BlueCaper (talk) 00:10, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Your approach to contributing

Looking at your edit history, you seem to spend an awful lot of time removing stuff, and almost zero time adding content. I find that... unfortunate. Not to insult either, but it does seem to be an attitude that gets Misplaced Pages a fair amount of grief when Misplaced Pages in general is discussed on other sites. Positive public perception is good, right? You particularly seem to have something against xkcd. I can see the argument of xkcd strips being below a relevancy threshold, but at the same time, it seems like overkill to be pursuing these references. I personally don't bother with removing stuff. I feel it's at least as useful to simply add the occasional referenced details, or fix links. (And in specific reference to an xkcd link of mine that you removed, you did a sloppy job by removing the References section too.) Sorry for preaching. ~Gertlex (talk) 05:37, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages can be improved by removing content added by idiots like you. Fancy that. 90.219.166.246 (talk) 19:08, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Dear god but this page is full of faggotry coming from every side. Honestly, on the one hand, he have a contributor who acts and speaks like he's a member of the fucking Cosa Nostra, e.g "I find that... unfortunate." I was expecting to see that followed up with something about protection money and made men. Now, on the other hand, we have a random idiot coming in and doing the wikipedia equivalent of thread necromancy, and his(Females shouldn't be insulted by this, as he's a fucking idiot.) head is so vacuous and empty that he can't even bother to state how wikipedia will be improved or even why Signor Mafioso is and idiot(He is, but that's beside the point.)

I was the one who finally killed the worthless In Popular Culture section of the Jimmy Carter Swimming Rabbit Incident page in Dec 2009, and I wanted to thank you for helping to keep that page XKCD-free. You made that edit a year ago, which I only noticed now because I forgot to check if my edit had stood, but I am glad there are people staying vigilant for XKCD vandalism. 108.28.44.31 (talk) 16:10, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm just wondering why you would categorize XKCD as vandalism. In many cases, Randall Munroe's cultural references bring light upon subjects that readers may not have otherwise known. It's prejudicial to remove something simply because it comes from XKCD; why don't you try -- I dunno -- looking at the context in which the reference was included? Just a thought. (p.s. I have a rather low opinion of people who judge and criticize others, but yet will only sign with an IP number, and not a username.) --Magmagirl (talk) 17:54, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Dauvray Cup

Updated DYK queryOn 9 March 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dauvray Cup, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the first baseball World Series trophy, the Dauvray Cup, was funded by stage actress Helen Dauvray? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dauvray Cup. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Request

Can I request that, if you want to take issue with an editor's behaviour that, as well as pinging other editors, that you also either directly contact or ping the editor concerned. Notification had to be provided by another editor. GregKaye 09:25, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm assuming this is in reference to Misplaced Pages talk:Requested moves#Request to revert a whole bunch of undiscussed moves? Firstly, I must take objection to the statement that I "ping other editors". I made three pings in that conversation, two of which were to you, and the third was in the most recent of the five comments I made, well after you joined the conversation. Secondly, I was not attempting to start a discussion of anyone's behaviour, I was attempting to place a request to revert undiscussed moves. The main RM page has a space, under the subheading "Requesting technical moves" for "Requests to revert undiscussed moves". Had there only been a few moves in question, I would have filled out the appropriate template and listed them there, and an admin would have moved them, or not moved them and converted them to RM discussions. Either way would not involve pinging anyone or a discussion of anyone's behavior. I left a note on the talk page instead because filling out the same template one at a time for hundreds of articles would have been an incredibly tedious undertaking, and I was hoping that admins had access to an automated process that could do the reverts much more easily if they agreed my request had merit. Egsan Bacon (talk) 16:32, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
I note, even following a request regarding pinging, that you don't ping with your reply. that you raised is exactly as I described and it was only after I had been made aware of the content that you started pinging me. Your selective pings have appeared in threads found here. here and here.. This after you made no contact with me when raising complaint.

I repeat:

"Can I request that, if you want to take issue with an editor's behaviour that, as well as pinging other editors, that you also either directly contact or ping the editor concerned." Is this unfair?
In my recent extension of the first thread I have raised other issues with, what I contested to be, your misrepresentations here, none of which you have replied to.
You have fairly called me to account in regard to some of my earlier behaviours and your corrections have been appreciated. You present "undiscussed moves" when almost all the moves made had made reference to that first supportive discussion (as the immediately following editor also pointed out), you say that I am starting a fourth discussion when what I was doing was continuing the first of the three discussions that I had started, when you present "that this is simply a religious issue and nothing more" when there are clearly a very wide range of cultural connections to the divinities mentioned. Your arguments include, relating to figures in religion "This isn't a religious issue". Do you say that it purely mythological? (I would like to propose a great many tons of masonry and countless artefacts as evidence to say that it is not). Is this really what you are saying? If so then please substantiate. I have previously left you the above. A motivation behind the issues raised here is that I would genuinely like you to come sunny side up. GregKaye 13:57, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Change on Lammermuir Party Link

Hi Egsan. Recently you made a change for Mary Bell on the page the Lammermuir Party. Your text stated it was the wrong link. This link for Mary Bell should link to the page William David Rudland. I'm confused about the change. Please explain. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NRud320 (talkcontribs) 15:36, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello. The link I removed at Lammermuir Party was a link to the article Mary Bell. That article is not a link to an article about a Mary Bell who was a missionary in the 1860s, but about a Mary Bell who was a murderer in the 1960s. Since the link Mary Bell leads to the murderer by that name, but the context of the link clearly does not intend the link to go to the murderer by that name, it was a link to the wrong Mary Bell. As the link could only serve to confuse, by bringing the reader to a link about an entirely different person who happens to have the same name, I removed it. Since the other Mary Bells listed at the disambiguation page, Mary A. Bell, Mary Hayley Bell, and Mary Bell (aviator), are also not the person this link was meant for, none of them having yet been born in the 1860s, I did not replace the link with a link to the article on this Mary Bell, as there does not appear to be one at this time. If you believe there should be a link to the article on her husband, by all means, you are free to make such a link. Egsan Bacon (talk) 16:36, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

St Georges School, Carlton

Hi, Not quite sure why the link fix was made as the item in question wasn't a link in the first place but part of the reference citation as supplied by the National Library of Australia for Misplaced Pages entries. Happy to leave it now, but I wouldn't count it towards any score. Henry Sowerberry (talk) 06:03, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

The part that was changed wasn't the visible part of the citation ("Punch (Melbourne, Vic. : 1900 - 1918; 1925)"), it was the place it was linked to, which was Punch. If someone clicked on that link looking for more information about the periodical being cited, they would get a page that provided articles about many different things called "Punch" or "punch". Since the one they want is located at the link Melbourne Punch, they would need to search through that list and hopefully not get confused for one of the other periodicals with that name. With the link fixed, they don't have to do that, because now clicking on it brings them right to the article about the specific "Punch" they wanted information on. Level 8 Magician

With the vague definition of "mechanic" given, I felt it was necessary to bring awareness to the lack of description of the trade. Simply listing different forms of a trade does not define the magic being performed. Mechanics in power plants turn rocks and dead dinosaurs into lightning bolts. How's that for magic?? Plus, the picture on the page depicts a mechanic working on a steam pump, which is inaccurate. There are no steam pumps in a power plant, as steam cannot be pumped. "Steam pumps" are pumps powered by steam, such as a steam locomotive engine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.173.39.51 (talk) 10:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

You've been reverted and I didn't get a response from the person who did it. After watching the season premiere of Scandal, I got concerned and I checked the article to make sure your hatnote was still there. It had been gone for some time as I took the longest time to go through the history. Since the article is featured, I'm guessing all those edits were intended to get it to featured status (Wrong. I figured out how to see when it was promoted. How in the world does an article that is already featured get that many edits?). Disambiguation link notification for April 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Government of Alameda County, California, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:53, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Caste system among South Asian Christians

Hi Egsan Bacon. Based on the ongoing discussion at the talk page of that article, could you consider undoing your close of the move discussion so that it can be discussed further? Thanks! --RegentsPark (comment) 13:14, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Edit warring

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at American Indian Wars shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Donald Albury 20:51, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

You removed reliably sourced information

If you're aware of the article's talk page, then you're aware of the list of sources Mathglot provided on it, including the one you claim supports what you want. You should probably litigate that there instead of here.

This is in reference to the article COVID-19 anti-lockdown protests in the United Kingdom.

It has been stated in this article written by Damien Gayle, a journalist working for The Guardian newspaper, that there were "hundreds of thousands of people taking part."

However, despite this, you removed an edit to this page which added this factual detail, under the false claim that no source has been provided. I suggest that you refrain from removing this edit, on the basis that no reliable source has been provided, when a verifiable and reliable source has in fact been provided, instead discussing any concerns you might have on the article's talk page first.

https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:Turkish_War_of_Independence

If you take two minutes, you can see that 2 3 editors are running a campaign on purpose. this is a complete blind loop. We cannot enter data because they have blocked us. you say "you can go and contribute". but they do not allow it. review the history of the page. they reject and delete resources. but they cite an interview done a week ago as a source. I am not threatening. just stop these malicious people. You can see that they are just making propaganda by reading the page history.

In a sub-title, almost all sources are Armenian. In addition, there are writers who have Armenian chairs in other sources. Example : https://en.wikipedia.org/Turkish_War_of_Independence#Ethnic_cleansing

97 Kevorkian Armenian 98 Kevorkian Armenian 99 Kevorkian Armenian 100 Kevorkian Armenian 101 Kevorkian Armenian 61 Avedian Armenian

example of denial of resources : 22:15, 8 May 2021‎ Buidhe talk contribs‎ 106,390 bytes −821‎ →‎top: these are just reviews repeating mc carthy's claims, and have no independent value (except for the reception of his book)

This is a Turkish phobia. When you read this editor's other posts and see him reject sources, you will see that he is neutral and has created a campaign.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.245.194.181 (talk) 22:20, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Well, IP 88, I can't ping you, and you can't watchlist pages, so you probably won't see this, but: 1) You really need to stop accusing other editors of things like "There are 2 editors who use Misplaced Pages for their own propaganda purposes." and you can see that 2 3 editors are running a campaign on purpose. Without evidence, those are personal attacks. You need to provide evidence, with diffs, explaining how those editors are doing that. It's not incumbent on anyone else to take two minutes to find your evidence for you. (Please note that I do not mean you should do that on this page. You should not. Please do not. I'm not an admin, so I couldn't do anything about it even if I found your evidence undeniable.) 2) You really need better reasons for why you have problems with specific sources than because they're Armenian. Women in Red

Hi there, Egsan Bacon, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you now intend to create more articles about women drawing on the French and Italian wikis. It's good to have such an active contributor devoting more editing time to our cause. If you haven't already done so, you might find it useful to look through our Primer for creating women's biographies. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 12:28, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Stefanina Moro

On 24 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Stefanina Moro, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Genoa honored Stefanina Moro, a teenage courier in the Italian resistance who was killed by Nazis, by naming a street after her? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Stefanina Moro. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Stefanina Moro), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

List of right-wing terrorist attacks

I wonder if you can add an inline citation for the Capitol storming entry in List of right-wing terrorist attacks? Anonymous user 85.255.237.12 apparently thinks my addition of {{citation needed}} was "Trumpist bulls--t", even though I actually despise him. I wanted inline citations to solidify the motive (Trumpism), but I have been avoiding the news entirely due to my poor mental health. --Minoa (talk) 23:24, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

@Minoa:, I added a source from The Guardian. It would be pretty easy to bombard that with a whole cascade of links, but I figured one should be sufficient to stop further attempts at unexplained removal. Egsan Bacon (talk) 02:33, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks: that should do fine for now. If the unexplained/unconstructive removals continue, we may have to look at some kind of patrol. --Minoa (talk) 08:36, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Austregilde

On 9 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Austregilde, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that, after her death, a contemporary of Frankish queen Austregilde both called her "the light of her homeland, the world, and the court" and compared her to Herod? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Austregilde. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Austregilde), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Comparison of Nazism and Stalinism neutrality

So, if neutrality is wikipedia's aim, why is there no article comparing Nazism and Free Market Ideology? At least be honest, wikipedia's aim is not neutrality but the promotion of certain viewpoints 79.166.2.110 (talk) 01:34, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

If an article on something doesn't exist, but you think it should, you could always create one. Just make sure that you have reliable sources that discuss the subject, and it's not just a collection of your own opinions. Egsan Bacon (talk) 02:36, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
I think your passive aggressive response proves my point, wikipedia doesn't care about neutrality, only to perpetuate the dominant western "free" market narrative. Have a nice day.79.166.2.110 (talk) 17:56, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
