Kalinowski is a typical Polish-Ruthenian gentry family, like many other Szlachta houses of The Kingdom of Poland, The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and The Duchy of Ruthenia, later prominent in Polish and Belarusian history, science, and arts. They are descended from Andrzej Kalinowski (?1530). They used the Kalinowa Coat of Arms.
