Jang Munik (Korean: 장문익, born March 20, 2001), also known by the mononym Munik (Korean: 문익), is a South Korean singer, dancer, and actor under Dongyo Entertainment. He is a member of the South Korean boy group DKZ (formerly DONGKIZ).

Early life

Jang Munik was born on March 20, 2001, in Busan, South Korea. Munik has been practicing kendo since he was young and even received certification. He was learning dance at an academy before being recruited by Dongyo. Munik became the second member to be introduced to the group’s original members who officially debuted in 2019.

Musical career

Pre-debut

Even before their official debut, Munik along with the other members of DONGKIZ (presently DKZ) - Wondae, Kyoungyoon, Jaechan, and Jonghyeong, had been actively promoting in and out of Korea. The group had performed and busked on several stages and university campuses across South Korea. They even participated in numerous important functions such as charity concerts, diplomatic relations anniversaries, and fashion events, amongst others.

On November 21, 2018, the group released their pre-debut single, “Nom.”

2019–2021: DONGKIZ and DONGKIZ I:KAN

On April 24, 2019, DONGKIZ officially debuted with the release of their single album, DONGKIZ On The Block. It was then followed by the group’s release of several singles and albums. In an interview, Munik mentioned BTS as an artist he respects the most.

On July 7, 2020, Munik and Jaechan formed the sub-group DONGKIZ I:KAN. The group's first unit debuted with their song “Y.O.U.” which has a 90’s retro vibe. Munik, together with Jaechan, also gained attention from fans for being considerate during music show endings.

On August 24, 2021, in their group’s social media post and fan cafe, Munik and Wondae were announced to be taking a break from their official activities due to health reasons.

2022–present: DKZ

On March 18, 2022, Dongyo Entertainment released an official announcement of the group’s rebranding and significant line-up changes. The group was rebranded to DKZ and Wondae left the group for medical reasons. DKZ now has seven members with Kyoungyoon, Munik, Jaechan, and Jonghyeong joined by Sehyeon, Mingyu, and Giseok. Munik was still on hiatus for health issues and was not able to participate in the promotion of their group’s 6 single album entitled "Chase Episode 2. Maum."
