ShortcutThis is the talk page for the Bot Approvals Group and is specifically to discuss issues related to the BAG. At the moment there is no formal policy for adding and removing members of the approvals group, but one will likely be formulated in the future. This is, however, the correct page to discuss member changes.

BAG Nominations

Requests for BAG membership

See also: Previous nominations

Requests to join the Bot Approvals Group are currently made here, although other methods have been proposed. Users wishing to join BAG, or to nominate another user to become a member, should start a new nomination page via the form below (replacing "UserName" with the nominee's) and transclude the discussion in a section below. Please note that notification to WP:AN, WP:VPM, WT:BOTPOL, and WP:BON is required. After a suitable length of time (usually one week unless the nomination has not received a reasonable level of support), the discussion will be closed by a bureaucrat.

Other discussion

New thread about a new tool (crosspost)

There's a new template that will be useful in BRFAs, post is at BOTN, crossposting here not only for increased eyes but also because there is a question I'd like asked. Primefac (talk) 14:12, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

I oppose this deletion of a section I tried to add here concerning GPT-3 editing of articles, because, for example, the Q&A at BDD's RfA included the comment:

I don't see any reason why GPT-3 editing by nature would violate any aspect of bot policy, though your question seems to presuppose a violation in that its bot nature would be undisclosed. If that were discovered, yes, I think a short-term block, at least, would be warranted.

Does anyone have any reason why the deleted section should not be restored? 2600:387:C:6C30:0:0:0:7 (talk) 07:40, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

This talk page is for discussing the WP:BAG. GPT-3 has nothing to do with the BAG. If you want to discuss bot policy, try WP:BOTN, but I'll tell you in advance there's really nothing to discuss here. Any bot that would try to edit based on GPT-3 would need consensus to do so. Since there's no way that's going to happen, any bot that edits based on GPT-3 will edit against consensus and can be blocked on sight per WP:BOTBLOCK. @Headbomb: because you have chosen censorship by deletion, I have tentatively decided to delay relating what I have learned about GPT-3 edits for six months. You or any other functionary are welcome to appeal my decision by apologizing and explaining why the admin corps might benefit from information about how Amazon Mechanical Turk is feeding into a m:WikiLoop/DoubleCheck system to feed GPT-3 edits to meatpuppets. I look forward to your response. 96.74.65.118 (talk) 14:29, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
