I meant that I was replacing the paragraph that had incorrect information, not that I was replacing it WITH incorrect information. Sheesh. A little common sense in the face of ambiguity. Frogacuda 01:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Firsfron;
When do you need it by? JSTOR access is no problem (the U of M has it), but I'm going to be unavailable for a few days coming up. J. Spencer 19:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Moving some mushroom pages to scientific names
Dear Firsfron ol' chum, I tried moving Red-staining Inocybe, and Panther Cap to their respective scientific names but it wouldn't let me. I presume because the latter names had history other than just redirects even though that is what they are now. As per plants we've decided that as they are not cultivated plants and generally better known by scietific names anyway, they should go to them. Can you help as an administrator? cheers Cas Liber 20:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
DuMont FA candidacy
I didn't have the heart to "Object" to the nom, but there were a few things I thought might need attention. You've done great work, and I think you're going to succeed in getting WP:TVS' first Featured Article! dhett 04:05, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've changed my neutral "Comment" to "Support". Looks like you've picked up another supporter as well. dhett 09:28, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- I came to your talk page because I noticed that DuMont wasn't listed on WP:FAC anymore. I read DCGeist's comments below, then found the discussion on the FAC archive. Sorry it didn't work out. I can't figure out why SandyGeorgia decided to dig in his heels so; he seemed hell-bent on torpedoing the candidacy. I'm not sure where your next step is going to be - if there's going to be a next step - but if there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask. dhett 05:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Unicerosaurus
The references indicate in only a passing reference that it is a failed and incorrect name, and there is no demonstration that it is notable. I don't like to see Misplaced Pages out in front of reliable sources in propagating a term or concept. We should only reflect what has numerous reliable independent attestations. Not all mistakes that get mentioned somewhere are notable. I have seen too many good articles deleted that have far more evidence of notability. Regards. Edison 20:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- I would fight to keep Brontosaurus because changing its name to Apatosaurus is as annoying as the un-planeting of Pluto. I am too old to unlearn so many things I learned in grade school. Edison 21:18, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Deletion
Hello, Firs! If it is agreed to delete the redirect Sun's life, may you please delete it? If it is agreed to delete it, it has to be deleted sometime tomorrow. Look at its talk page which redirects to its RfD page before you delete to make sure it has been agreed to delete it. If it is agreed, just delete it. If you have any questions about, please feel free to leave a note on my talk page. Kamope | userpage | talk | contributions 22:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Devotion to Policy Is the First Refuge of the Intellectually Lazy
Ah...the human psyche. Such an endlessly amusing thing. Mr. S (I'm guessing it's a he) declares, "here is no need to escalate the FAC to the kind of dialogue you and DCGeist engage in below," but, obviously, our "escalation" (I feel like Nikita Khruschev) has caused him to change his tune. He no longer claims the sources are unreliable. Now he simply asks, "wouldn't it be easier just to complete your references?" Oh, hell. Why not? Let's put him to the test. He represents a particular kind of bureaucratic psychology, one primarily interested in accruing status by enforcing the bureaucracy's rules and systems. Of course, you and I don't think of Misplaced Pages as a bureaucracy, but someone like S clearly does. Now, due to our completely unnecessary escalation, he's stepped back a bit and moderated his demands. If you meet them, I think he may change his vote, at least eliminate his "strong objection", while, of course, taking credit (accruing status) for getting you to see the light. Whatever. Let him. The article is what matters, and as we both recognize, having it Featured could prove of real benefit to this subject area on Misplaced Pages, serving as a model for other contributors. It's worth a shot. If he doesn't moderate his opposition, but instead pushes forward with new demands, I'll really escalate...by writing a ten-paragraph-long deconstruction of his response!! (Having already used "pettifoggery," I'll definitely have to hit the thesaurus.)
If the subject is of interest to you, you might like to take a look at B movie and weigh in on its current FAC. If it's not of particular interest to you, please don't feel compelled in the least. Unlike S, I never vote on the candidacy of any article that doesn't specifically interest me (in fact, I believe Du Mont represents the first time I've ever voted on a FAC), and I wouldn't ask anyone else to. All the best, Dan—DCGeist 23:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry it didn't work out for the article this go-round. The FAC administrator may have jumped the gun in concluding that a consensus for approval wasn't possible. If you care to put in that additional San-dy-manded info, I don't see why it can't be renominated. I think the article could also use a few more images--specific-show-related is what obviously occurs, but there might be other things usable under fair use. It's never been proven to me, but I have the sense that the user-friendly ambience images provide helps in garnering support. They can be quite informative as well--it's one thing to read about the shows DuMont aired; it's another to see some images and get a feel for the contemporary culture and the network's place in it. I should have thought of this before, but obviously got wrapped up in the citation issue. P.S. Thanks for the comments on B movie--they all materially improved the article. Gee, Wikilwayers of the World, imagine that... Best, D—DCGeist 10:26, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Local Personalities
Thanks for helping out with the debate on local personalities... I'm finding that it's become a touchy subject.User:Kerusso and someone at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Susan Peters (TV anchor) have taken exception to the AfD's... and it's totally not about the article / author / anchor in question; I hope we can all reach a good consensus that we can all live with. The Strawhatters
Thanks for your kind comments about my Strawhatters article. After three years of edit wars and so on, I thought it would be fun to refocus and make a goal of adding new articles about TV shows without articles yet, however obscure those shows may be. Wikiproject Dinosaur proposal
hi firs,
as a newbie, i'm having a hard time finding important matters for this wikiproject, except for the ones already in the quick navigation panel on the project page. e.g. i will always be the last one to know if an article is up for deletion because most probably i will only know when it is brought up in the project's talk page. because of this, i'm proposing a notice board. i'm not sure if you'll like it, but if you do, please feel free to modify it. it can look something like this:

Malaysia at the 2006 Asian Games
hello firs,
i'm currently editing Malaysia at the 2006 Asian Games and i found out that this article contains so many POV statements (most are unsourced) and sentences so graphic that it does not conform with WP:MOS. e.g. the section Squash states:
"As expected, World no 1 Nicol Ann David exorcised her demons of the last Asian Games......."
also this statement from the secton: Bodybuilding which mentions about Mr. Universe has nothing to do with the Asian Games. i believe this is unnecessary:
"Sazali recently did a training stint with coach Milos Sarcev in California recently, which proved good as he picked up the Mr. Universe title soon after."
how do i go about disputing these statements? thanks and more power. --RebSkii 18:26, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Archaeopteryx
The sentence "The Berlin specimen has been referred to Archaeornis siemensii, the Eichstätt specimen to Jurapteryx recurva, the Munich specimen to Archaeopteryx bavarica and the Solnhofen specimen was referred to Wellnhoferia grandis." makes no sense. It sounds like these specimens were sent down the hall to see a doctor. You need to be less obscure in whatever point you're trying to make. Wahkeenah 02:50, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Then you should say it was renamed or redesignated or some such. Wahkeenah 03:21, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Renaming something is not the same as assigning to a class. I have changed the term to "rename", with explanatory comments on the article's talk page. Wahkeenah 04:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Kindly explain to this poor, "dumb" editor (and to all the other "dumb" readers who lack a Ph.D. in Biology and/or Linguistics) precisely what is going on. Are these species being renamed, or not? Wahkeenah 04:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
WKYT-TV
Am I wrong for thinking that including every single person who works at the station shouldn't belong in this article? I removed it once, and it was promptly put back by the original author of the article... I hesitate to remove them again because a) I don't want to be seen as inciting an edit war, and b) I nominated Scholastic Ball Report for deletion (another article he authored) because it doesn't establish notability (it doesn't seem any different to me than any other local sports program). about Dropzink
I know that the poor boy got in your nerves with the plastilin models, and i know he is not the must talented artist in the world, but i would like you to consider making your coments in a bit more constructive way. you see he really is trying to help, and he had already quite a bitter time with his models. that he tryes another aproach shows that he got the idea, dont you think? There is also something else you have to consider, and that is. that it takes a lot of effort to get that jump between child drawings and a semi profesional drawing look. in my opinion he is quite close to this point (far more closer than with his models) , and if he gives up right now he may never get to reach that level. wich would be a pity becouse he has already quite a spirit :). I am not telling you to accept whatever he makes, but i think it would be more usefull if you let him know what is ok and what is not from his work, so that he has an idea in how to change things to fit. and doesnt end with the idea "everything i do is wrong" anyway is just a friendly request ;) i have been working on a , some request for an article. i am almust finished and when i do, then i can come back to the proyect here :) -LadyofHats 10:21, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I just offered to be User:Deryck Chan's coach, after he posted something at the AC page, not realizing he already had a coach (you!) . I don't understand what his concern is, but from his coaching page it seems things are going along just fine. Just wanted to let you know that I didn't mean to step on your toes. Bay News 9 and WTVT help
Frisfron, I need the help of WikiProject TV to look at the WTVT and Bay News 9 articles, as they supposedly read as ads. I do not wish to see these articles be deleted. But I am unsure about how I can fix them. If you can recruit some WikiProject TV members who are familiar with the Tampa, FL market to assist with these articles, I would highly appreciate it. AMA debacle
I want to formally address not greeting you with a response, and I am sad to see that you have left the organization.
I was the one who added in the line of our joining process to contact the Coordinator, and I thought that it would be an easy way to keep track of new members. Now, with the volume of people who join the AMA weekly, my talk page has been cluttered with so many AMA membership messages that a large number of them have slipped through the cracks (partially aided by Werdnabot regularly archiving my talk page). Since August we've undergone some extensive changes, and many things have been revised. If this one lapse on my part, and the zeal of other AMA Members' welcomes to a member whom they have not seen in action before has completely driven you away from the Association, please accept my apologies. אמר Steve Caruso (desk/AMA) 22:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Media issues
Thanks much for the message. When I'm done dealing with this, I'm happy to turn an eye to Progressive radio and Paramount TV. You do understand, I'd never heard of either till I read your articles. This is deep, very intriguing stuff. Difficult to source, but I'm sure it can be done. And...if and whenever you feel like dealing with DuMont again (and I certainly understand not feeling that way), I'm ready to assist.—DCGeist 10:41, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Thescelosaurus
Hi, Firsfron;
I'd like that, but I think some of the other project members should give it a once-over, and I'll try to dig up some more images. I've got the photos from the Science Museum, but they don't show the whole animal. I've got pictures of other specimens from other museums ("Willo"'s skull, and the Triebold cast), but I don't always know about their use restrictions. Also, I've got Gilmore's 1915 reconstruction, which is still pretty decent, and should be out of copyright. J. Spencer 04:20, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I don't have any back-room photos of Thescelosaurus (although I do have a couple of rolls of a near relative ;) ). If there's not a high bar to GA status, then just looking around, I see a few more, in the 10-20 kb range with images and in-line citations, that might make good choices as well: Amphicoelias, Coelophysis, Microraptor, and Struthiomimus. Well, and Othnielosaurus, but it's rather boring, and I don't know if the new genus will be accepted. J. Spencer 06:35, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- I had a 95-word sentence? Sweet! (oh, and I've made some scans to add) J. Spencer 19:04, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- I was happy with it, so I put it up. I'm going to ask Dinoguy2 about Amphicoelias, since that's his baby. J. Spencer 18:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Philadelphia television station articles
I noticed your recent cleanup at KYW-TV, where someone changed that station's affiliation from CBS to PBS. Well, that same user, Jamesinc24, has been similarly vandalising other Philly station articles: WPHL-TV (from MNTV to PBS); WCAU-TV (from NBC to Nick Jr.); WTXF-TV (from Fox to Noggin); and WPSG (from CW to Disney Channel, with call letters reverted to WGBS). He also edited Template:Philly TV to reflect his "changes".
I have left a message on his talk page warning him about making such changes in the future. Rollosmokes 15:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

- Great job on the What's the Story article. Your contributions never fail to impress me, Firsfron. In fact, when I saw the article in DYK and read "DuMont Network", I assumed it was your work before even reading the article. While I was not surprised that it was your doing, I also was not surprised that it was so well-written. -- Kicking222 22:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Consensus on FAC (Triceratops in this case...)
...I'm trying to figure out consensus - it doesn't really spell out the proportions of votes which will render and article successful (2/3rds? absolute? 100%?). Looks OK as there really isn't anything we can do except possibly open a can of worms with a section on posture of shoulder joints....

Triceratops
sorry for the late response, i'm busy working on some other articles. how about vertical or upward horns as opposed to forward-facing? or straight, upright, upstanding? or simply erect as dictionary.com puts it, because there's no such thing as less erect, so simply using erect would be ok, i guess. --RebSkii 19:08, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- i appreciate your effort citing evidences to prove that my statements are misleading. i believe i'm the one missing something, since i stated that there is no such thing as "less erect". now, i'm objecting to the use of the term: erect. because if it can be more erect, it has to have some kind of a flaccid state. okay, my nose is erect, (it has a bone) but it can never be flaccid, if you get what i mean (so it can never be less erect or more erect it can only be broken :) ). i'm also objecting to the way this article's nomination was made. it is a part of a collaboration, it was peer reviewed, but, it has no good article status (which should have polished it). cheers! --RebSkii 16:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Triceratops question:
Thanks for your comments. I'll post what I said on my talk page here too...
- Well I don't see why a phrase can't be said like: "A reoccuring theme in children's dinosaur books is a final showdown or battle between the Triceratops & T. rex. As such these two dinosaurs are often depicted & thoguht of as natural enemies." Then we could slot the text about that show "The truth about killer dinos" & how the guy found about the reality from this sort of fight? Sounds good to me, will post to you both as the current sentence just isn't working too well & could confuse people...
I think this could suit everyone & doesn't sound as generalistic. It also sounds more like what an encyclopedia would say... Thoguhts? Spawn Man 22:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Firsfron - you don't need to apologise. Yes stick the above sentence in.cheers Cas Liber 23:06, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Tony Sidaway
Firsfron, My difficulty with Tony Sidaway began when he unjustly blocked me. I do not harbor a grudge against Sidaway, rather see a pattern of negative conduct in what I perceive as bullying other editors. He justifies it with sophistry, but I do not buy it. I want to see that he stops such conduct with other editors.--Fahrenheit451 04:02, 2 February 2007 (UTC) Addendum: The link on my user page in no way revels in someone's misfortune. Yes, I have made many good edits. If Sidaway is allowed to bully other editors, I can guarantee you that I will retire from wikipedia and inform Jimmy Wales, who I have interviewed on my radio program several times, why I have done so. I will not support injustice in any forum. --Fahrenheit451 04:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Regarding KYW-TV edits
If you had a problem with the edits I made to the KYW-TV page, I apologize. It's just that I have all that information stored on a disk and I felt that it shouldn't go to waste. Maybe if the Current Personalities section (or better yet, the entire Personalities section) was spun off into its own article, maybe it would be such a problem. I just didn't want to start an edit war. BHayes07 05:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
New one by me
So I check my watchlist, and an anon IP has been making tiny changes that don't show to numerous dinosaur articles. Why would someone want to go around and turn single spaces into no spaces from articles, when it doesn't cause a change in how articles look, and it doesn't lead to a higher individual edit count (group IP)? Is this some strange sort of vandalism or OCD? Here's the mystery tramp: 69.138.229.246. J. Spencer 05:06, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think I should go to bed. I noticed that all the dinosaur edits were in the range E-A, so I thought "maybe" it was a musical code. It didn't sound like anything as either notes or chords on the guitar, though. J. Spencer 05:15, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Proposed Misplaced Pages talk:Notability (news)

- Show off. ;) Seriously though, I have the same number of edits on both lists, but I'm on 2 different ranks. Also, the number of edits are way behind cause I'm a bit over 7k edits now... Bob the Lemming
- Oh... What better way to end a conversation. Niice... ;) Spawn Man 00:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC) P.S. I've run out of things to write about anyway. Kind of disappointing...
- I like your thinking. I've got a plan too. We'll just add every letter of our conversation - seperately! At about 20-60 letters or so in a message, we should be #1 on the list soon lol... :) Spawn Man 00:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

- Deadly serious. In fact I have a confession: *Suspense building* I'm not a real paleontologist person! I'm an amateure! A failure! ;) In any case, I don't have tthat much knowledge to be able to write the lesser known dino articles. Had you sweating about whether I was going to declare my love for you heh? Lol. ;) - Spawn Man 00:51, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Anyway, I have to go. Thanks for the conversation Firsfron. As I said though, if you have any articles that need sprucing up, I'll be ready to do it... :) Spawn Man 01:00, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Maybe leaving?
My best friend on Misplaced Pages just left & I'm kinda depressed. Don't know if I'm gonna stay here. All my "friends" never message me cause they're all too busy. I've just realised nobody likes me on here anyway, so what's the point of staying. Just letting you all know. Don't know what I'm doing right now, so yeah, I don't know... re: User:Rmrfstar and Admin Coaching
Hey Fang Aili,
Just wanted to comment a little bit on the recent comments on the Admin coaching page. Your comments there were greatly appreciated. I started feeling like Rmrfstar was sort of ignoring any points that were addressed, and, although I feel he makes some valid points (if just a few), I couldn't help but shake the idea that there was more going on to this than what he's said.
It turns out Rmrfstar has had two failed RFAs: here, where he stated "I don't know that I'll do any sysop chores", and here where he stated he wouldn't use the mop very often. This is starting to make more sense to me now. I knew I had seen his name before; I just didn't remember where. I supported his second RFA. This RFA stuck out a bit more in my mind because user:Kelly Martin was a big advocate for him and asked the closing 'crat to ignore twelve of the oppose !votes, which did not happen.
It is clear from Rmrfstar's comments that he doesn't like RFA's "cookie-cutter" approach to granting adminship. I feel, however, that he's targeting the wrong project page, as the RFA process doesn't come from WP:ADMINCOACH, and there doesn't seem to be a way of convincing him otherwise. Any ideas? :) Firsfron of Ronchester 03:51, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I really appreciate your comments on the matter and everyone else's too. Personally I have a hard time understanding Rmrfstar's arguments in general; he seems to talk in circles. I don't see how he can argue against people learning about admin tools. It simply makes no sense to me. He also has not provided any evidence of his assertions that the program encourages editcountitis or "cookie-cutter" admins, or any of his other accusations. I agree that he is arguing about the RfA system in general, and less so the admin coaching program. It is interesting that he has failed RfA twice; I would hope that he isn't doing this for personal reasons. --Fang Aili 21:44, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
TV Schedules
Heyas, I was working with User: A Man In Black, he was giving me references and sources to look for so it maybe added and be "legal", but I couldn't find a reference that said KXGN was the only station left in the nation that was dual-affiliated with 2 of the Big 3 networks. So, today, I added information about the NBC Programming that KXGN airs, which was the reasoning behind the schedule (I made it from the template of the schedule on the NBC page). I know that some felt it took up a whole page, but I am nothing but through:). I feel the section I added explains it, but not in the way I would have liked. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Stay Warm....SVRTVDude|Yell 02:44, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- It continues on the WP:AN page. I responded to defend myself but was continued polite and civil. I will not bring the arguement to the WP:AN page, I will only respond (unless asked not to) to defend myself, again, politely and civily. I am not sure what more I can do. - SVRTVDude 03:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Note
Thanks for the note, both to me and to him: maybe he'll finally get it. Frankly, Orangemonster2k1 was getting on my last nerve, not only with his constant -- usually irrelevant -- pestering on my Talk page and his refusal to understand some really basic issues, but the last straw was his claims about how (despite the fact I was merely responding directly to his posts on my Talk page) I was somehow stalking him -- ESPECIALLY after I'd said, point blank, that I refused to respond to him any more. Ignorance is not a sin -- ask me about calculus sometime -- but invincible ignorance and outright falsehoods ARE. --Calton | Talk 07:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Firsfron, I don't think I need to say that I never said Calton was stalking me. I did, however, say that his constant PMs were to begin with unwarranted and not necessary as he was not part of any conversation I was having. He injected himself into a situation and caused this problem. My "pestering" on his talk page, was nothing more than responses to his PMs on my talk page. I like to respond to people in a timely fashion...if I am online at that moment, I try to respond quite quickly. Calton, obviously doesn't get that I did not ask for his assistance, nor do I want his assistance in the matter of the KXGN page (something I am still working with AMIB on) and obviously my responses to his argumentative PMs were not what he wanted to hear. If Calton wants to continue to rant and rave over this, that is fine, I have better things I can be doing and don't have the time to mess with him, but he needs to be muzzled or something, cause this is getting a tad out of hand. I have stopped, he has not. - SVRTVDude 08:00, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure you're already sick of this, but that last statement is already false: examine his contributions after that posting at 0800 UTC. Note especially the two pointless article reversions. I don't see much good coming from this, frankly. And it's not as if I have much to do with anything, as the guy is clearly a self-winding watch. --Calton | Talk 08:18, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Sigh, it's even worse than I thought: I just looked at the guy's contribution history, and he reverted several edits I made hours ago (around 0200 or so UTC), including the placement of 5 4 {{ifd}} tags. He needs, unequivocally, to be warned about that, but I'm not the one to do that, obviously. --Calton | Talk 08:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I know why I have a headache now....I reverted, because I seen no reason for the edits or the ifd tags. Just an editor...but Calton continues to miss the big picture and continues to try and throw heat back on me for his continued actions...actions that have gotten him into some serious trouble. I have made several attempts to end this including saying "Now, I am stopping....you do the same, because from here on out, you are just arguing with yourself." on his talk page, which he quickly deleted. Calton wishes to continue this, he is continuing this on his own. I am done...I will continue to edit, revert, and update pages as I have been and I will let him argue with himself....I am done. - SVRTVDude 10:01, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. The simplest -- and most obvious -- explanation for the guy's reverts is...well, "stalking" is far too grandious, so let's call it "childish pique". Note that if tries it again, I will not hesitate to escalate matters rather than just making the reversions, including necessary warnings on his Talk page -- his thin skin be damned -- and notification of whatever admin happens to be handy. Also, if he makes out-of-policy edits that I come across, I will not hesitate to reverse those, either: I'm not looking for problems nor do I have the slightest interest in educating him on the basics -- he seems unreachable -- but I refuse to be intimidated by either him or his enabler. --Calton | Talk 10:21, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Brief Comments
I have apologized for removing the ifd tags. I didn't think they needed to be deleted (especially the cute dog picture), so I took them down...they were reverted, I have apologized. I am going to continue to work on TV and Radio station edits, but I have decided not to be as "open" as I have been. I feel that has gotten me into this mess. I will try to continue to provide as much information as possible (again, I am nothing if not very through) but not too much that it upsets people (like the schedule on the KXGN page). I checked out Calton's contribs page and it looks like the KXGN page was the only one that he came across, so we probably won't come in contact anymore.
As for the RfC thing, I was directed there by User:Jkelly. I actually didn't even know such a board existed until directed there by JKelly, that is why I opened a thread on WP:AN. I actually did the page on RfC wrong and a couple editors had to correct it. I feel bad that it had to come to an RfC page....I honestly tried to get along with Calton. I did get angry at one point and did tell him to "leave me the hell alone" and to "piss off", I was upset and I let that show through in my posts. For that, I have apologized cause it was uncalled for. I stooped right down to the level of incivility that he was giving me and that was wrong on my part. I honestly try very hard to work with people and I, at times, get a little passionate about the pages I work on (cause I work hard on them...and it takes me awhile cause I am new)...but I am actually working with User:A Man In Black on the KXGN page and we had been at odds for awhile on the image/fair-use thing. I still don't agree with it, but after reading a fair-use law site til my head hurt, I realized that he was....right....and that I was....wrong....and had to swallow my pride and admit it. So, we are working on the KXGN page together....and that is what I tried to do with Calton....but I am not sure what I was doing wrong there. I tried. Anywho, to make a long story short, I am moving on from this, putting myself back behind the scenes, and am just going to edit and update...and try not to piss anyone off. Again, I apologize for the problems this has caused you and the other admins. - SVRTVDude 05:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Rollo, for your fixes here to the DuMont article. Much appreciated...

Google search on AWB
Hi Mets!
The "google search" function on AWB doesn't appear to work anymore. I originally posted a message to WT:AWB earlier this week, but got no response, except from someone else saying the same thing. I'm not even sure you're the right man to ask, but it appears you were answering questions on the AWB talk page, so I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that you know something about the internal workings of the program. Is this something that is being worked on? Any ideas what happened? Google search on AWB was the best. I used it every week to find common typos and misspellings and fix them quickly and easily. Now the mispellings are building up, with no real way of fixing them... Any information you can provide is appreciated. Thanks, Firsfron of Ronchester 20:39, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- Your post prompted me to create Misplaced Pages talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs, a new page just for reporting bugs to the AWB developers (including myself). If you can post the bug there, that would be great. Thanks so much! —Mets501 (talk) 22:30, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Holy flying..
I had absolutely no idea. I'll have to count my deletes somehow because I just can't believe that it could average out to 120 per day, or that I even have 13K total (let alone since October). I mean, there are days when I go through and destroy some image cats or something, but I also go for days without logging on.. so.. gosh. I am amazed. Thank you for the barnstar. =) --Fang Aili 05:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Night at the Museum
The announcement of the DVD has taken place, but I couldn't find anything about those other dinosaurs. I'm not sure why the anon IP is so interested in adding these tidbits. J. Spencer 05:51, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Night Owl
I did call it a night, on that article, but then later on I was checking how it was going and I saw the "Mantell astutely noticed that the forelimbs were shorter than the hindlimbs" bit, which was a little too dryly humorous for an encyclopedia. It went well with "Mantell and Owen: from giant lizard to dinosaur", though. Now I am calling it a night. Good luck on Scelido! J. Spencer 05:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Scelidosaurus ref
Hi, Firs;
I've got four Scelidosaurus refs on hand:
- Newman, 1968 (the one that talks about redefining the genus because the type was a theropod knee)
- Thulborn, 1977 (the one where he tries to show it was a cursorial ornithopod)
- Padian, 1989 (Scelidosaurus in the Kayenta Fm., Arizona)
- Martill, Batten, and Loydell, 2000 (soft-tissue preservation)
Email me if you're interested and I'll send them along. J. Spencer 17:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Glad to help out! You've put a lot of work into Scelidosaurus, and it shows. J. Spencer 03:48, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Talk page
Why was the message I just left for Calton (about a different post) reverted? - SVRTVDude 07:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have tried....honestly. I removed an AfD tag from WRAJ Internet Radio, he showed me the page had been deleted, I respond with "touche" and leave the page be. I move the information to the sister AM radio station ], he reverts it, even though it says in the WRAJ article that WRAJ and WFTU are sisters. It is an edit war no-matter-what with him. Can you, as an admin, do something? The RfC didn't work...I am trying to be nice, but nice ain't getting nowhere with him. The only reason I became involved in this was because it was a radio related article. - SVRTVDude 07:26, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- There was probably something truthful in the above statement, somewhere, but I'm not bothering to go look for it since it's objectively false in every sense. It's a repost, nuked speedily after an AFD, which Orangemonster2k1 can't be ignorant of because he cast the only "Keep" !vote. Nice doesn't work with me, being honest does. --Calton | Talk 07:49, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I apologized to WCQuidditch for my edits when I first started. I got slapped in the head by my friend for doing that....hurt too. I have completely updated the WRAJ Internet Radio page and taken down the AfD tag (I couldn't find a corresponding page to it). The information I added is extensive and should make everyone happy, including Calton. If there was a corresponding page (and I just didn't find it) please go ahead and readd the tag so the process can work itself through. My apologizes on the confusion of that statement:) - SVRTVDude 08:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Note of apology
I know this is probably going to do squat for my reputation now (Not that I ever really had one), but I thought I'd leave a note of apology to everyone involved in my recent actions. An explaination is in order too. First off, I had a bad real life situation, that I really don't want to talk about, on the day this all started. I shouldn't have edited on Misplaced Pages afterwards, but I did. When I saw the situation with Riana's RfA, it kind of set off a build up of unvented anger at my situation & it was un needed. My whole tyraid had very little to do with the RfA, but I guess I took it out on that angle anyway. The way I was handled could have been better, but I wont go there in threat of making this sound like a back handed apology. My apologies go to Riana, who was also having a real life crisis at the time too. Basically the whole thing was a misunderstanding & venting process which I involved you all in. In regard to the whole sock puppetry thing, I had told my brother about my problems in due trust & he went & did something stupid on here. I don't really know what else to say but sorry. If that & a little bit of hard work repairing relationships on here doesn't change your current view point of me, then I don't think anything will. So again, sorry if I've inconvenienced you guys in any way & I hope that over time you'll think better of me. I'd love if you guys could forgive & hopefully forget & I wasn't really in control of myself these past few days. Hopefully things can get back to normal. :) Spawn Man 06:30, 13 February 2007 (UTC) P.S. Thanks for you comments on my talk. I probably over reacted a tad too much & I'm sorry you had to see me at my worst... again lol... Hope we're still friends cause I respect you a lot man.
A Note I Wrote (that rhymed)
I made actually 3 attempts to sent a very well-written note to Calton about 20mins ago, it was not to incite in arguement or to upset him, just to incite thought. He reverted it each time within a minute. Tonight, I was making honest attempt to inject some civility into the problems that are going on between Calton and I. My attempt was in vain and my words fell on deaf ears. I have tried.
If you would like to read what I posted, you can look in his talk page history, of course. I am tired of trying. - SVRTVDude 06:48, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Scelidosaurus
Done. --91.148.159.4 14:26, 13 February 2007 (UTC) My pleasure! --91.148.159.4 19:40, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- On GA candidacy: I threw in a couple of additional refs, to clarify points and support others. The only part I'd like to see expanded is the last paragraph of the history section, namely the sentence that says "The discovery has ramifications for all thyreophoran genera." It should state what the ramifications are. Otherwise, go for it! J. Spencer 22:02, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Accept
I will accept your warning but don't assume when I said "Bye bye," I was being incivil. Neither one of us was being productive on the talk page so hopefully your conduct will be better in the future as well. MetsFan76 22:09, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it. I'm not that bad of a guy. But yes, I was very dismayed with what happened with the article and hopefully some good will come out of it. Anyway, cool chatting with you =) MetsFan76 22:20, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Irritator
Firs, you reverted this edit: "The unusual name Irritator is in reference to the fact that its skull was found in several pieces, and its dicoverers were so irritated putting it back together. " back to the Irritator article. The story as I know is that the diggers added plaster to the incomplete skull to make it more impressive and that the paleontologists were quite mad on having to carefully remove it without damaging the fossil (as already explained further down in the article) not because the skull was found in several pieces. Which version is correct then ? I am confused ArthurWeasley 23:08, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Arthur,
- You're correct, of course. Feel free to revert. :) Firsfron of Ronchester 23:10, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks. You were faster than me ;) ArthurWeasley 23:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I guess I wasn't paying much attention. I was just so surprised at seeing an edit from an IP which wasn't vandalism or the introduction of POV claims of T. rex being larger than Dinosaur X that I goofed. Thanks for catching it, Arthur. Firsfron of Ronchester 23:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, and besides most of the edits from this IP were valid (just reverted Irritator and Spinosaurus, rest seemed fine to me). ArthurWeasley 23:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Next collab is Compy then...(thanks to Cas for breaking the tie). Will see what I can do but I do not have much access to primary sources (unfortunately). There is no lack of images either (may be a feathered version?). ArthurWeasley 23:30, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Compsognathus
Added a few bits. Will work on it later if I find something interesting to add. Don't have a copy of the original description papers, nor the osteology bit from Ostrom, either, so have to rely on second handed sources. Feel free to edit in the meantime. Cheers. Re:Warning
As I have told others, I was responding to something he said "Butch, it's what you're good at.", which I think we know what the first word was supposed to be, on the WP:CN board and left a template message. But you all want me to leave him alone, fine. Honestly, it seems like Calton's actions are being defended and the people who call him on them are punished and that kinda upsets me. I will let him be, he can make any comment he wants about me or anyone on anyone's talk page and I hope then he is punished, cause he sure as hell ain't now. For now, I am on Wikibreak, so I will respond to talk messages to you all and edit, but that is about it. - SVRTVDude 19:18, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Don't remove other editors' remarks from user talk pages
Please don't do this again.
If you check the archive of his talk page, you'll see that I (and another editor) have already asked him to cease and desist, and explained to him why his complaint directed at Calton was in error.
While I am disappointed that he hasn't taken the opportunity to correct his remarks, it is often seen as overtly hostile to simply blank another editor's remarks from a talk page. Doing so accompanied by a rude edit summary ('rv strange message') is unnecessarily inflammatory. If Orangemonster2k1 engages in behaviour that seems to be stalking or harrassment, I will block him; in the meantime, please don't stir him up by deleting his comments. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 19:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't remove them as I figured I would get yelled at or Calton would do it for me, so I just left them be. - SVRTVDude 19:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC) (still on Wikibreak)
