Ahmad ibn Ibrihim al-Ghazi was a Somali general born from the Abraine clan sub-clan of the majority populated North Gadaboursi (Samaron) Tribe in Zeylac in the late 1400s. He became one of the greatest Somali warrior known as Ahmed Guurey or the left handed because of his use of his sword with his left hand . He defeated the Ethiopian Army of the king Lebne Dengel. With his victory Ahmed Guurey ruled as Sultan of the Empire of Adal (known today as Awdal) for over 45 years over the Somali, Ethiopian, Eritreans and Oromo territories thus converting most Oromos and Eritreans to Islam.
