DYK nomination of Gimli (Middle-earth)
Hello! Your submission of Gimli (Middle-earth) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! GRuban (talk) 19:43, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- Actually it's a little more complicated - another reviewer was reviewing at the same time, and she thinks it's fine, so maybe my review won't matter. But I hope you can address my concerns anyway. --GRuban (talk) 19:43, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- And it wasn't my submission, even. Let's see what nom has to say. Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:24, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Isildur
On 8 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Isildur, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Rings of Power showrunner Patrick McKay likened Isildur to Michael Corleone from The Godfather? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Isildur. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Isildur), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WP linking
Hi CC, WP doesn't link common terms like 'pantomime' and 'firefighters'. That's not what linking is for. It's not a dictionary. Please seeWP:NOT. Not sure why you reverted. 'First instance' of what Anna (talk) 18:27, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- First instance of the terms in the main text, as opposed to the lead. If a topic is considered important enough to justify a whole Misplaced Pages article, it certainly seems reasonable to link it. And "common" to whom? I am far from sure that "pantomime" will be intuitively obvious to all readers, especially if English isn't their first language; and the topic is clearly going to be more intelligible with a link to that article. DYK for Ampullae of Lorenzini

Thank you for doing what I should have done, for example here and on other nominations. My absence was unplanned, but you were under no obligation to do my work for me. Permission for using Shire Map
Hi, I'm translating some Tolkien articles for the Galician Misplaced Pages and I was wondering if I could use your map as a base for a translated version. I would credit you, of course, although I'm not quite sure how to go about it. Thanks in advance. Manudosde (talk) 23:04, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- You are welcome. You download the .SVG file and make a copy of it with the word Galician added to the name. You download Inkscape (free) or any other SVG editor, and change the text labels to that language. You upload the file and credit yourself and me, linking the original file also. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 02:12, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Beetle
Did you write most of the beetle article? Given that beetles are 25% of animal species, I feel like it would be a good addition to the FA list. LittleJerry (talk) 21:23, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
Gosh, no, it was written by many hands over years. It's a vast subject and making it "comprehensive" would be distinctly challenging. Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:31, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- I think we should have at least one beetle-related article. How about Coccinellidae next year? LittleJerry (talk) 13:33, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
