Ahmad ibn Ibrihim al-Ghazi (died February 21, 1543) was a Somali general born from the Abraine clan sub-clan of the majority populated North Gadaboursi (Samaron) Tribe in Zeylac. He is also known as Ahmad Granh, or "Ahmed the left-handed", and by his acts is a hero to the Somalis and ahated villain to the Ethiopians.
He first appears in the service of Mahfuz, the governor of Zeila, and was married to Mahfuz' daughter. When Mahfuz was killed fighting against the Ethiopian emperor Lebne Dengel in 1517, Ahmad took power. In retaliation for an attack on Adal in 1527-8 by the Ethiopian general Degalhan, Ahmad invaded Ethiopia, and ravaged the territory of the Ethiopians, which led them to request help from the Portuguese.
He was killed in battle by a Portuguese musketteer.
