Günther von Wüllersleben (died on the 3rd or 4th of May, 1252 in Acre) was the eight Grand Master of the Teutonic Order between 1249 and 1252. He hailed from Hessen from a family residing in Wüllersleben near Stadtilm. As a Catholic knight, he spent most of his time in Palestine. He was one of the closest friends of Grand Masters Hermann von Salza and Heinrich III von Hohenlohe. Thanks to his connections with them, he was able to take part in secret diplomatic missions for the Order. He spent 1244 in Prussia where he served under the Master of Livonia, Poppo von Osterna.
Günther von Wüllersleben was chosen the eight Grand Master of the Teutonic Order by the Order's Chapter (religion) in 1250 in Acre, Israel. As the superior authority of the Order, he resided in Palestine and probably never left Acre.
As the Grand Master, he tried to reconsile the two parties at odds which were demoralizing the monastic life within the Order. Very often he would send control missions to distant provinces and supervise discipline. For a short time, he was able to overcome the division within the Order's chapter to which the pro-papal fraction was leading.
