Dropped C tuning: CGCFAD, also known as simply as drop C, is a guitar tuning style in which the lowest (sixth) string is tuned down two tone ("dropped") to C rather than E as in standard tuning (EADGBE).

Usage of dropped C tuning

The difference of drop C from standard tuning allows for the bottom three strings form a C5 power chord, which can be shifted up or down the fretboard with a single finger (usually the index) to produce any power chord quickly and easily.

Artists who use Dropped C tuning

  • Breaking Benjamin has been known to use Drop C tuning, such as in the single, So Cold.
