Objection To & Case Against Proposed Deletion of Omar Albanil Article

Hi Antonio,

Thank you for your feedback on the Omar Albanil article and your recommendation for deletion. I, respectfully, disagree with the proposed deletion on the grounds of lack of notability.

I believe Albanil meets the notability requirement, if not by any individual achievement and/or recognition, certainly by his cumulative achievements and recognition, namely:

  • USA Telemundo, a prominent television and media outlet, broadcasted all five of his professional fights.
  • Numerous articles featuring Albanil, specifically his boxing, entrepreneurial and academic careers as well as his personal life journey.
  • Albanil and his gym, Tampa City Boxing, hosted sports and cultural icons - Logan Paul, all five Gronkowski brothers, Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver - in the production of a video that now has nearly 10 million total views, has been featured on Logan Paul and the Gronkowski's social media platforms, and received significant media from top media outlets, including Yahoo! Sports, TMZ Sports and Maxim, among other outlets.
  • 4x Florida state welterweight amateur boxing champion.
  • Undefeated professional boxing record.

While I am sure you already observed and considered these facts in your review of the article, I am interested to learn whether these facts (laid out in this more concise manner) change your perspective and opinion at all as it relates to Albanil not satisfying the notability requirement and your proposed deletion of the article.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Women in Red/Metrics/February 2023

Hi AntonioMartin; thank you for Magali Carrasquillo.

It is not necessary to manually add articles to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Women in Red/Metrics/February 2023. The page is compiled by a bot, and qualifying articles are reliably found and added once they have a wikidata item which is coded as human, female. I think the preference is that we leave the metrics pages to the bot. So the most useful thing to do after finishing an article is to look for and add a sitelink to an item for the subject in wikidata, and if one does not exist, add a new item. Equally, if you're unfamiliar with wikidata, you can leave those two tasks; there is a bot and various humans who ensure biography artiles get added to wikidata in a short timescale after creation. --Tagishsimon (talk) 09:32, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Please see new RfC

I support that "vs" replace "vs." and "v" in boxing match titles.

However, to get consensus on this issue, I've opened an RfC on the issue.

Please comment and offer your opinions on it.

Proposed deletion of Bárbara Garofalo

Notice

The article Bárbara Garofalo has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Misplaced Pages policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. BilledMammal (talk) 13:07, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Emilio Huyke

Hi. I hope you are fine. I have removed a lot of unreferenced information. The new page review is one of the last approval stages, so when I see a page like this with a large amount of unreferenced information, and no {{In use}} tag to show that the page is undergoing a major build, I tend to err on the side of caution and remove the unreferenced information. The easiest solution is for you to add the tag to indicate the page is still under construction (if it is). This prevents me and other editors from editing the page until the process is complete and the tag is removed. Please assume good faith of me, as I do of you. By all means add the information again when you can add the references. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 10:10, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

  • Hi! thanks for your note! There is one page where all that information is at (the one you deleted), the problem is, the page is a Blogger.com page and I don't think that is a reliable source, that is why I did not link to it. On the other hand, I have a plethora of topics to write about next, including can collecting as a hobby. Huyke was one "project" I had in mind for about a year, since he is legendary in my country. El Platino moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, El Platino, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe, and currently it has zero. YouTube is not a reliable source, and the other is simply a database entry. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Misplaced Pages). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Misplaced Pages's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 11:27, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

  • Hi thanks for letting me know! In essence, you are right about everything, except for one thing: You Tube can be a reliable source! In cases like these, where it shows El Platino winning a race, or for example for boxing fights or things that happened live on television, You Tube is as reliable as any other source, because it shows precisely how it happened. In other cases, such as videos created by content creators, etc, yes I agree that in those cases, You Tube is not a reliable source. But...it can be! I'll try finding other sources, but keep in mind, this was in 1985ish, in Puerto Rico which culturally speaking was and is a whole different country from the U.S., so newspaper articles and the such may not be that available!
