Don Murphy is an American film producer best known for Natural Born Killers.

His then-partner, Jane Hamsher, wrote a book about their turbulent process making that film called Killer Instinct. Murphy is a graduate of Chaminade High School and Georgetown University as well as the USC School of Cinema-Television. He is married to filmmaker Susan Montford. He is the originating producer of the upcoming Transformers film for which he attended the Toronto TransformersCon in 2006.

Tarantino incident

On October 22, 1997 Quentin Tarantino got into an altercation with Murphy at a Hollywood restaurant because of remarks made in the book Killer Instinct, which were attributed to Murphy . Murphy had originally not planned to launch charges, but filed an assault and battery suit on November 14, 1997 for $5,000,000 against Tarantino after Tarantino spoke of "bitch-slapping" Murphy on the The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show . According to Murphy the two have long since reconciled and put the incident behind them .
