Resounding Mridangam

Hi Jimfbleak,

Erickavu N. Sunil is globally renowned percussionist and author who wrote the book Resounding Mridangam. I believe his profile should be part of wiki. Surprised to see that the page is deleted. There are lot of references on his merits and contributions which appeared in various reputed media which you can verify. Kindly revisit the deletion and restore the page. Thanks in advance.

@Jimfbleak - Erickavu N. Sunil is my teacher in percussion music (Mridangam), and I am a big fan of him. I have created his profile in wiki as he is a globally respected musician and author. I have collected the photographs, including the cover pages of his celebrated book Resounding Mridangam directly from him. I believe such an artist need to be there in the wiki profile. If you google, you will get lot of external references on him. Request you to review the deletion and restore the deleted pages. Let me know if you need any additional information so that I can provide the same. Thanks in advance.

Sbnair2003, you need to put on your user page what you have said above, so your relationship is transparent. The book article won't be restored for legal reasons, it's a copyright violation. For the book, we have no evidence that he has created the artwork for the book covers or, if he has done so, released it to the public domain. It's more likely anyway that the artwork is the publisher's copyright, rather than the author's. Ohh Ok. Thanks much. May I know what is COI? I am not familiar on that.

On the book, I have checked again with the author Erickavu N. Sunil now. The book is independently published through Amazon KDP and the author only has the copyrights. Anyway it is left to you to decide whether the book page is to be restored or not.

Weverse article deletion

I don't really agree with your speedy deletion of the Weverse article. According to your reasoning, it was per WP:G11. I think a better solution is needed. You could have mentioned the issue on the talk page. There are editors like myself who do contribute to the article. There's always a way to improve the article. Do reconsider the deletion of it. Came here to say something similar. Didn't realize two other editors beat me to it. The article as a whole was not in the least bit strictly promotional. Iirc there was one section (the table listing artists on the platform) that was an issue and could have either been removed or trimmed. But you didn't have to delete the entire article. Carlobunnie Collateral damage really. I blocked Serenaleee for a separate but Weverse-related article, and saw that their other contributions were at Weverse. I see that you deleted it as G11 and G12. I didn't tag it as G11 because I thought it was incomprehensible, and patent nonsense is not usually speedied in draft space. I thought it read like it was written by a Large Language Model, and was thinking of sending it to MFD, and then realized that I should check to see whether it was plagiarized nonsense. I may be blinkered, but this looks an awful lot like a continuation of a long-running effort of the author to promote themselves here: Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet_investigations/Maasuni/Archive. The uploading of the high resolution cover is especially suspicious - I can't see that anywhere else online and it's way larger than what they stated the source to be at File:Foolproof_cover.jpg. Impossible to link them to that through anything but behaviour, but I thought I should at least alert you to it and you can decide whether you'd have moved the article had you been aware. SmartSE, thanks. I wasn't aware of the SPI, and the editor had denied a COI which, whatever my misgivings, I had no evidence to doubt. The image, suspicious as it is, was added after my move. I'd deleted this as a draft, and restored to a sandbox on request. The author largely followed our editing guidance, and eventually requested a move out of his sandbox. Where do we go from here? Thanks and yes it's quite ironic isn't it? I'm filing a post at COIN as we speak as there are other older accounts. Unfortunately over the years they've learned to become better at editing in general and also at avoiding being caught by checkuser. SmartSE (talk) 10:54, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of 'Maverick Messiah' page

Hi, You have deleted this page, stating it is promotion. Surprised that it is considered a promotion on Misplaced Pages to write about a biographical book of a well-known personality which is published by a reputed publisher like Penguin Random House? Question about self published sources tag 'Mohamed Elshahat'

Hi, I am a little confused about this tag. I reviewed the policy for good references and tried my best to narrow down the references use to these: 1-Books published by respected publishing houses. I cited a literaty criticism book published by the Arabic Journalism Agency which can be found on google book. Also, books written by Mr. Elshahat were published by 1- Egyptian General Authority for Books, 2-Egyptian Ministry of Culture 3-Dar El Horreya 4-Dar Al-Adeeb 5-Dar El-Adham 6- Dar Waad 7- Al-Arabi Publishing and Distribution which are independant and reputible publishing houses/intities. I added references to the book pages on the Arabworldbooks.com website so users can find the book cover/details if needed since these are written in a different language. 2- Mainstream (non-fringe) magazines, including specialty ones and Reputable newspapers. I cited independant articles from Almasry Alyoum, Alnahar, Aldostor and Alkalima. These are all independant articles written by reputible jourlists or critics.
