Afro Tech is an indigenous, globally outspread subgenre of house music that is predominatly emergent in South Africa. Renowned, South African DJs and Music producers who pioneer or popularized the genre globally are Black Coffee (DJ),Culoe De Song, Zakes Bantwini ,Shimza, Da Capo, Enoo Napa and Punk Mbedzi.


Description

Afro Tech ( not to be confused with Blavity 's Blog and , yearly 'AfroTech' titled, Conference) is a union of Afro House, Techno and Deep house, it has a distinctive, sound.

It often includes a combination of slight classic techno sounds , lead by South African percussion and other various African, instruments.


Popularity

Although the subgenre has been perceptibly present for well more than a decade , in 2015 Black Coffee (DJ) , received the "Breakthrough Of The Year" award at the Ibiza , DJ Awards , primarily due to one of his most famous Afro Tech songs "We Dance Again" ft. Nakhane , immediately highlighting as well as increasing the popularity of the unique sound of, Afro Tech.


In 2023, the world's biggest music platform, Spotify established and added the "AfroTech Now", playlist.
