Onde-onde or Buah Melaka is a green glutinous rice ball with grated coconut made of sweet pottato flour , pandan leaves and (Malacca palm sugar) . The Onde-Onde name in Malay word means chewy and jiggly.
Name and History
The name of Buah Melaka inspired by Melaka fruits and gula Melaka (Phyllanthus emblica). It is mainly known as onde-onde in Malaysia , Singapore and Brunei . It is also known by the name 'buah melaka' (gooseberry fruit). Different Buah Melaka and Klepon , Buah Melaka must use gula Melaka and pandan leaves not use food colouring while Klepon can use any palm sugar and food colouring.
