This is a list of banks incoporated in mainland China (People's Republic of China not including Hong Kong and Macao). The big four banks are marked with asterisks (*).

Approved foreign banks

The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), the banking regulator in mainland China, announced on 24th December, 2006 its approval for nine foreign-funded banks to start their preparatory work for setting up local corporations in mainland China.
