I find it hard to believe Rat Island ever had anything on it. It's just too small. Do you have any references to support that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RoySmith (talkcontribs) 18:58, 7 December 2004

Hi!,
I do not know of any website that exists.
In her book, "Images Of America : City Island and Orchard Beach" the late Catherine Scott said there was a Typhoid Quarantine Hospital on Rat Island in the 1830's but it closed because of storm floods. Alice Payne is over on Reville Street and she might know cause she wrote "Tales of the Clamdiggers.
I was told in 1958 there used to be a Lighthouse there, but I do not know if it is true or not.

I believe only David's Island and Goose Island are part of New Rochelle. At least, the New Rochelle zoning map doesn't show any of the others. I'm changing the article to that effect, if anyone learns otherwise please feel free to cite and correct. RossPatterson 18:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Davids' Island (not David's; it was named for one-time owner Thaddeus Davids) is indeed currently owned by New Rochelle. (Since the Army left in 1965 it has been a real estate football. New Rochelle has traded it several times. Right now it is again the owner until the Corps of Engineers completes hazard abatement work, scheduled to be finished in 2013. After that Westchester County intends to buy it for a public park.) I'm not sure about Goose Island but I believe that is privately owned and that someone actually lives there in the house on stilts. Article is unreferenced // Should its name be changed?

This article is totally unreferenced. I am having difficulty finding any evidence that these islands actually are called the Pelham Islands. The only online source that uses that term seems to be this article! I wonder if the article name is valid. This New York City Parks & Recreation Dept. webpage looks like a good source for the article; it describes the islands as "islands of Pelham Bay," but it never calls them "Pelham Islands." This webpage republishes an 1889 article telling about the history of these islands, but it never gives a name for the island group. This page also looks like a good source for the article. --Orlady (talk) 20:15, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

There's virtually no material in this article which couldn't easily be merged into the articles about the individual islands, or into List of smaller islands in New York City. I would have no problem with doing that and then deleting this. -- RoySmith (talk) 21:44, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
More simply, cut and paste the entire article into Pelham Bay. Certainly that name is not unusual for the area where the islands sit. Jim.henderson (talk) 21:07, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Improved article

This article was better and made worse for no real reason. The information is correct so please leave it. I live in the area and can verify this is correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.247.0.13 (talk) 08:31, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
