Bad deletion of many articles

OxMetrics article Speedy delete

Dear NawlinWiki,

The OxMetrics article you deleted on April 4, 2007 on the grounds of blatant advertising contains a factual (encyclopedic) description of a well respected Econometric Software. I am sorry you dislike this contribution

This software has a new name and is not well known in the US but it is certainly important for the econometrics community world wide, where its predecessors have been used for over 20 years. There is no inappropriate content. There is no copyright violation either, because I edited the description myself.

Moreover, there are three comparable US products, GAUSS, RATS and Eviews with descriptions on Misplaced Pages that were not deleted. Those contributions made me think that it might be interesting to edit and OxMetrics article for Misplaced Pages.

If you are interested in making Misplaced Pages a useful and up to date encyclopedia for smaller sciences like econometrics and
mathematical statistics, you should allow descriptions of scientific econometric (and statistical) softwares, old
and new, US and non-US.
I hope you can undelete the article and its links if your are interested in making Misplaced Pages an interesting resource
for smaller sciences and their corresponding softwares, which are essential tools for their application.

Criterion 11 for speedy deletion:

Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service, or person and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group, service, or person as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion; an article that is blatant advertising should have inappropriate content as well. If a page has previously gone through a deletion process and was not deleted, it should not be speedily deleted under this criterion.

Yours Sincerely, Marius Ooms

Muhammad Imran Masood

This article was recently speedied by you. The author keeps removing speedy tags in spite of the full cycle of warnings. I don't want to get into a edit war on the speedies with him, could you please help out. Dipics 14:19, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Studenterlauget article

5th March 2007

Hi. Just wanted to hear your story about the Studenterlauget article you deleted. Studenterlauget is a big part of the students lifes at the ASB and I feel that its natural to include the main student organization there. Also, I found a quite comprehensive article about studentersamfundet in Norway, which in many ways resembles Studenterlauget a lot.

Well, I hope to hear from you soon. Anyways its good you guys are dealing with the legitimacy of articles and cotents.

US v Laugenour

Okay, so you can speedy delete. You say "nonnotable case, but give no link to explain. It looks like DOJ ringers have commandeered Misplaced Pages to keep anything substantively useful to help people understand the true nature of income tax. Here, finally, I found a current court case in which the DOJ admits by acquiescence to just a tiny few of its crimes. And you speedy delete it. Don't you think it has value to people today to know why so called tax protestors aren't protesting income tax but protest the crimes committed by the IRS, DOJ, and judges?

I want to know how to get this info from the case documents, particularly judicial notices of FACTS, posted on wikipedia. --Bob Hurt 17:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Shortly after I tagged Eproctophilia for speedy delete, another user alerted me that the term was legitimate, as bizarre as it sounds. I'm recreating the article after cleaning it up, adding a citation, cats and a stub. I really can't believe I'm even dealing with this subject (especially after I just finished lunch), but I've gotta live by the rules. Realkyhick 20:41, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Laugenour

Dear editor NawlinWiki: Hi, I don't know if you'll remember me; it's been a while.

I noticed your reference to the deletion of the article on USA v. Laugenour, and your notes to user Bobhurt. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to read the article (I bet it was a real gem). Jut for your information, Bobhurt has been pushing nonsense about the Laugenour case off and on for the past few weeks in one form or another.

I noticed -- in an amazing coincidence -- that an anonymous user (at IP 68.200.46.69) who I believe has previously posted tax protester rhetoric on Bobhurt's user talk page also inserted "Laugenour" nonsense earlier today in the article on Income tax in the United States. I moved the material from that article over to the talk page for the article, with an explanation as to why it is a hoax. The Laugenour case itself is real, but the tax protester verbiage makes the preposterous argument that the government lawyers in that case "admitted" certain things. I had previously reviewed the case docket in that case and discovered that the argument is based on a totally laughable intepretation of the Federal Rules of Evidence -- something I had explained to Bobhurt weeks ago on another talk page. I put a similar explanation today on the talk page for Income tax in the United States.

By the way, I believe Bobhurt has also operated under the Misplaced Pages user name of BobHurt. Yours, Famspear 18:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Hasty deletion of Mark Britten

The total lifespan of this article was less than five minutes, with no one getting a chance to add any bio materials on this guy, who needs an article (see Chinaman (disambiguation)). I saw the speedy delete that was added VERY QUICKLY, and tried to add the "hangon" template but you'd already deleted the article. What's the rush? Please restore this article, or re-create it, as it's needed....Skookum1 19:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

(Copied from User talk:Skookum1#Mark Britten) Couldn't have waited 5 minutes, could you, from the moment I created the article? Was it my fault for not putting a inuse on the article? Was my fault that I didn't warn other users possibly interested in expanding the article that it was tagged for sd? Oh, wait a minute, I DID warn other users possibly interested in expanding the article that it was tagged for sd. And I did IMMEDIATELY. Problem is, you were even faster in deleting the article. Now I'll have to report your behaviour, sorry. --maf 19:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Honda Pilot - I need another set of eyes or two

Hi NawlinWiki. I'd like another admin to have a look at User:Honda Pilot's talk page and contribs (neither is very long, he just arrived today) so that I can get a second opinion on his good faith. I don't think that you normally get involved in stuff like this, but I saw that you're online right now. I'm asking another pair of admins for opinions as well if you'd rather not comment. My Article on a Student

Excuse me, but you have been continuously deleting my article on a student, Aaron Hamrick, at my local college. I understand, it may not seem notable, but I assure you that the article is notable. This student is writing and publishing a highly anticipated book to come out sometime in 2009 or 2010. Many professors at our school and some local editors expect it to be very popular on the East Coast and perhaps even make a best seller list. You didn't even give me a chance to edit my article and add sources and facts before you deleted it. You've also given me a "last warning", which apparently means I cannot re-create the article unless I have your approval. Please get back to me right away on this, as I need to write this article for a small project for our school. And I request that you allow at least a week to let users develop their articles before you delete them. Thank you.

Speedying redirects

Hey, I just thought I'd check in with you on your speedy of Emmett Richmond. The redirect there wasn't vandalism; Emmett really is a character in the movie. I guess I just can't see the harm in the redirect. (I created the redirect to replace a two-sentence substub that had been created by a new editor—I didn't want to bite him with a deletion, and the redirect seemed to make sense.) The Skittish empire is well deserving of a page. we are a reputable comedy group, with a large following and a need to communicate information to our fanbase who are interested in the specifics and formation of the group. Lenny09 sockpuppet for Gerry2009?

This user has now fabricated Sid the Cat. I noticed that you gave User:Gerry2009 a final warning, or he would be blocked. So User:Lenny09 "afd"ed Shaun the Cat, then created Sid the Cat and vandalized Shaun the Sheep(a real show). What's next? --Lexein 01:08, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Ah, that's better. Gone again. So, since I'm not an admin, what's the real best approach here, in future? What takes precedence, that the user is a sockpuppet, or that persistent hoax posting = vandalism? --Lexein 14:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited

You deleted an earlier version of Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited as an advertisement. I suspect that it was a copyvio as well. I rewrote the article, which I think now sufficiently establishes notability, and which doesn't read like an advertisement. --Eastmain 13:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reversing the AfD on the Yorkshire Cricketer William Cartman. First class cricketers quite often get nominated by editors unaware of the game or wikipedia's notability policy regarding them so your prompt action saved me another tedious discussion about it. Sakura Sakurada

You speedily deleted this as WP:CSD#A7, "does not assert the importance or significance of its subject". I don't know if she is important, but the article used words like "very popular actress", which seems to be an assertion of importance. More specifically, the article asserts that she is known for performing in unusual films for Japan, unpixilated, with her mother, beasts, and urolagnia, which rather indicates that she might be notable. That seems to be worthy of an Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion debate at least. Do I have your OK to undelete it, please? --AnonEMouse

OK with me to restore, but I would immediately send it to AFD. There are no sources other than her own porno site. Thanks, NawlinWiki 19:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, restored. Feel free to AfD. I'm not the main defender of this particular sub-genre, but I know who is. :-) --AnonEMouse 19:31, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Brandon A. Harnois

User:Wikiartwriter has recreated the page. I tagged it with prod instead of CSD because it asserts notability. Is this correct, or is this justifiably CSD under vandalism? Thanks!--Xnuala (talk) 19:43, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Why

Why did you delete my page.

Your removal of {{db-bio}} tag in the article William Cartman

I noticed that you removed the tag on the grounds that it "asserts notability", as in your edit summary. While it does assert its notability, it does so per questionable or self-published sources. If you still feel that the article need not be deleted, please let me know and add {{Cricket-stub}} and {{wikify}}. Thanks,  ~Steptrip 00:32, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that last comment's wording, I didn't know how long that you have been this site (plus that you are an admin ;-).  ~Steptrip 00:35, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Ghostly Talk

This article was speedily deleted before I was complete. The reason given is not sufficient - as this radio program's hosts have been on Coast to Coast AM - a recent experiment of note was done there indicating life after death etc. etc. This is not a group, nor a debating society, nor some simple website, nor a company promotion but in the vain of Ghost Hunters - a reality tv program - nor is it an attempt at promotion. What a waste of time to put together information and not even be able to finish my contribution. Please state clearly your objections. --Northmeister 18:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I do not accept your objections since I had not completed the article. Your haste is unwarranted and overdone. --Northmeister 18:34, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi there- you deleted my article, Accountants Inc., due to blatent advertising. I'm having trouble seeing which parts are advertising. I'm not quite sure how to do this, but I'll try. An employee added a bio of me to Misplaced Pages. Though I was not opposed to it, a neutral re-write would have been OK. Unfairly Deleting Pages

Look, you have deleted many pages, including mine, and to me, it's very rude. What gives you the right to be able to do this? Anyway, look at this list of people who say that you have deleted their pages without adequate reason. You could at least post on their page, or under talk, what your problem is, and we can respond. In the end, it's people's time you've wasted because they might have work really hard to make a page and you just delete it. See Talk:adolescent sexuality for information on this proposal.
