WikiProject Spoken Misplaced Pages

There is a request, submitted by 46.200.212.181 (talk), for an audio version of this article to be created. For further information, see WikiProject Spoken Misplaced Pages.

The rationale behind the request is: "Important deity in Hinduism.".

Priority

Considering that Vaishnavism is the primary sect of Hinduism and most of the Hindus consider Vishnu as the Ultimate Being himself, shouldn't Vaishnavism have the priority especially at the introduction? —कृष्णकुलि || Contact - 06:26, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Also note that non-Vaishnavas generally do not worship Vishnu. So worshipping Vishnu as a concept almost always means worshipping the Absolute Being and Absolute Self. —कृष्णकुलि || Contact - 06:27, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
Vishnu is a pan-Hindu deity, not restricted to Vaishnavism. For Misplaced Pages:Neutral point of view, we need to introduce him in a pan-Hindu context. Similar treatment is given in other references Britannica, The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Hinduism p. 759, dictionary of Gods and Goddesses p. 342. Redtigerxyz 12:32, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Revert of referenced informations

@DaxServer, could you please clarify the reason behind your reverts? —कृष्णकुलि || Contact - 09:28, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

I guess you decide not to answer, so please clarify reasons before reverting next time. —कृष्णकुलि || Contact - 10:11, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

This is regarding Gautam Buddha

I don't understand. Why are you saying this budda is the incarnation of Vishnu. This is completely false information. Remove this from Misplaced Pages. 103.177.82.205 (talk) 16:48, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

If you bothered to read Gautama Buddha in Hinduism, you'd know multiple Puranas mention the Buddha as an incarnation of Vishnu. Chronikhiles 10:33, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Lord Vishnu

Edit description by changes such as “in Vaishnavism one of the major contemporary within Hinduism ”

Add changes by supreme Being as Supreme Lord, in Shiva Misplaced Pages it is mentioned as Lord, then why you mentioned in this page unauthentic, kindly edit clearly and give all importance to all Deities in Hinduism. 2409:4071:4DBD:495E:E592:8C16:2012:76FA (talk) 10:02, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

Agree the main infobox image should be Vishnu alone, without the avatars. Redtigerxyz 17:35, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
There's a painting by Ravi Varma Press called Shree Vishnu that I think fulfils your criteria. According to one site it's supposedly from the 1920s - 30s. I'm still kind of murky about copyright and domain so I'm not sure how to upload it. Maybe we could get some consensus about this or another painting and try to make sure it will be here to stay before it replaces the current infobox image. Chronikhiles 03:02, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Add this image.

Not happening, this is both non-conventional and digital art. Familiarise yourself with Misplaced Pages:Image use policy before you make suggestions. Chronikhiles 09:08, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
File:Vishnu.jpg is a good choice. Is only a picture of Viṣṇu in with four arms, blue skin, and holding conch, discus, mace, and lotus as in typical iconography. Chariotrider555 (talk) 15:33, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Low resolution though. Chronikhiles 17:07, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

Vishnu from Gita Govinda

God Vishnu

Is this even public domain or just a random painting of Vishnu from Google? The artist, dating, and copyright status are all absent. We need a good representation plus these details to make an infobox image change stick. Chronikhiles 16:19, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

@Redtigerxyz I think despite the fact that Vishnu isn't generally depicted as seated, the Rajasthan school painting works. Chronikhiles 11:36, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
I am changing for now, until a suitable representation can be found. We may also consider the following: Redtigerxyz 11:41, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Redtigerxyz, the image you suggest seems to struggle with balancing traditional painting style with Western influence, which is a bit off-putting artistically. Vishnu faces directly toward the viewer, but the artist does not seem to have a strong grasp on painting faces in Western photorealistic style nor proper 3D perspective. I think for an infobox image, the depiction should try to remain within a more firmly traditional depiction of painting or perhaps a pre-modern sculpture or idol of Vishnu. Chariotrider555 (talk) 15:55, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
Based on my experience, I think conventional paintings, immaterial of school, are generally the preferred representations of Hindu deities on the infobox. Of course, it's not a rule (Krishna, Lakshmana) but I'd personally be for a painting. Chronikhiles 07:39, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
In talk page we didn't discuss about this image, we suggest only authentic image,Why you changed the old photo, atleast add previous image idol of Vishnu, see other Hindu deities , can you make changes? This is very propaganda on Vaishnavism.I know you are shaivism, you jealous on Bhagavan Vishnu. Shame on you.

why you add this ugly old Vishnu image, why you so much jealous on Lord Vishnu. See other Hindu deities in Misplaced Pages, how beautiful, but you always changes related to Vaishnavism. Misplaced Pages is not your private property. See and search in Wiki media common, there is so much Vishnu images, upload the one, delete current image, hey red tiger delete it.

Then why not also change God shiva Misplaced Pages images, then we appreciate it, see everyone as equal, then also change God Vishnu Wiki image as statue, there is so many statue of Vishnu in world eg like garuda wisnu , Angkor wat, etc ...... @Redtigerxyz 2409:4071:D41:5B96:B2DF:D5E2:626A:BBAA (talk) 10:48, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

About editing .

Why content deleted, Vaishnavism means worshiper of vishnu , the word vaishnavism comes from vishnu alone,

So plz edit correct word sentence such as remove within , just add He is supreme Being in vaishnavism , add in , see shavisim wiki they also in and added content link text paramatman for vishnu affilition , in shiva wikipedia they also add same content paramatman see it and remove supreme being, add Vishnu is Supreme Lord who creates , protects and transform the universe. In deity shiva wikipedia there is lot of difference they added own supremacy content, so plz edit my request, see everyone as equal in Hindu deities especially to Lord Vishnu.

Correct Edit :

  1. He is supreme being in vaishnavism. (Remove - within )
  2. Add content to affilition
  3. And finally add in Vaishnavism Vishnu is Supreme Lord who creates, protects and transform the universe. (Remove - supreme being ) I Kindly request to you plz correct word and sentence formation. @Chronikhiles
  4. @

Vinay viniyl (talk) 04:10, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

In and within literally mean the same thing within the specified context. You can go ahead and add Paramatman in the infobox if you want as long as you follow it up with (Vaishnavism). As for the Supreme Lord/Being nuance, I suggest you open this as a separate discussion on the talk page so that alignment can be reached between both articles. Please don't make modifications to sourced content as you did before. Chronikhiles 06:10, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
can you plz add this image for vaishnavism.
@Chronikhiles @Redtigerxyz

Add image.

This image is added in avatar, dashavatar and vaishnavism and why not also add to vishnu wikipedia , All in one four image.

About Misplaced Pages edit.

Misplaced Pages users promote lot of vandalism and fake poorly sourced information on Hindu deities especially to God Vishnu. They add beautiful images/statue for other deities but in Vishnu wiki page they add old ugly photo, same image for avatar, dashavatar and Vaishnavism artist, they image link not opened in web, atleast they didn't change images. World encyclopaedia is much better than Misplaced Pages. @Chronikhiles @Chariotrider555 @Classicwiki @Redtigerxyz 2409:4071:D8D:F611:0:0:6548:5313 (talk) 14:12, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
