During July, 1987, the ] was positioned at critical positions, seeing an opportunity the Pakistani Army achieved success by seizing the control of the Bilafond La, which was named as the Quaid post.The ] held Quaid post overlooked the areas of Bilafond La which offered the ] an advantage. On 25 June 1987, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Chandan Nugyal, Major Varinder Singh, Naib Subedar Bana Singh and Lt. Rajiv Pande, ] launched a successful offensive and took control of the Quaid Post. ==The Conflict==
