Characterization
Levi Kamei
Within the DC Universe, Kamei is a scientist specializing in biology originating from India whose immigration to the United States as a teenager to study abroad caused the character to experience a loss of familial and cultural identity and seeks to regain it, cumulating from his more progressive views compared to his more traditional family and community who do not trust foreign corporations and their impact on the environment.
As Swamp Thing, the character is both a protector of nature similar to prior depictions and a approachable, recognized expert in enviromentalism in the superhero community, endorsed by heroes such as Batman and Raven.
Powers and abilities
As a ordinary human being, Kamei is a exceptionally gifted scientist knowledgeable in several fields including biology and botany. After awakening his powers, unlike prior incarnations of Swamp Thing, he can transform between his human form and his Swamp Thing form at will and is functionally both immortal and durable even in his human form.
The Green
As Swamp Thing and the designated Avatar of the Green, his powers resembles that of the Alec Holland version; Levi possess a profound connection to the Green, the cosmic energy that inhabits all plant-life and allows him several powers, chiefly being able to manipulate plant matter to change shape and size and appear wherever there's life. His control over plant life, coupled with his advanced knowledge, enables him to adopt various chemical compositions from other flora, such as resistant against heavy metal toxicity from pycnandra acuminata to battle the adversary known as Chemo.
