"Light Again" (stylized as "LIGHT AGAIN!") is a song recorded by American rapper Lil Nas X featuring production by Take a Daytrip, Omer Fedi, Jasper Harris, Lil Nas X, and Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, the song features a sample from "Let's Get Married (Jagged Edge song)" and interpolates "Cuff It" by Beyoncé. Released on November 15, 2024, through Columbia Records, it marks the first single from his upcoming sophomore album titled "Dreamboy". In March 2024, Nas X shared a demo version of "Light Again" on SoundCloud after the snippet gained lots of attention, leading to fans wanting the single.
Release
On January 31st, 2024 Lil Nas X released a snippet of the song on TikTok under the name "Light Again". Due to the hype created by the snippet, on March 29th, 2024, Nas X released demo 17 on SoundCloud after posting an Instagram Story a few hours earlier where he stated how he wanted to release the song. This was later followed by an Instagram Story of producers Take A Daytrip working on a different demo of the song, thus confirming this was not the final version.
On August 15, 2024, Lil Nas X shared a message from his alter ego Dreamboy to his Instagram discussing his inactivity following the release of his single Star Walkin' (League of Legends Worlds Anthem) and showing his excitement for the start of his "Dreamboy" era.
On November 7th, 2024, he finally announced the long-awaited songs release for the following Friday. Following this, a series of “Dreamboy” promo videos were posted online alongside a photoshoot of the artist.
Music Video
The music video for "LIGHT AGAIN!" was uploaded on November 15, 2024, on Lil Nas X's YouTube channel through Vevo. It was directed by Andrew Donoho and produced by Landon Kovalick and Sault Levitz, based around a party. Other credits include Stephen Snyder and Logan Gunzenhauser as Drone Operators, Joseph Myles, Luke Miller, Maddy Spruel and Andrew Bowen as set dressers, Andrew Donoho and Christopher Carson as the video editors and Taylor Wynn as the art director. The video starred Lil Nas X alongside lots of his fans at a warehouse party.
