- Congratulations. I know vandalism isn't the highest level of admin work but your answer is what made my vote simple. I hope your work is light and your decisions are easy. Good luck.

- Well done, and welcome to the mop corps! Please feel free to write to me if I can help in any way - as I often say to candidates, the learning curve remained steep for a long time. Vanamonde93 (talk) 00:45, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

The new admin baton | |
Congratulations on passing RFA! Peaceray passed the fabled baton to me and, and having given it a twirl or two (or three, actually I've taken my time a bit), I am passing it on to you! Once you are done appreciating its magnificence, do pass it to the next admin. Happy mopping! |

About your merger proposals
Hey there, I am currently working on updating and clearing up the chaos backlog at WP:PM, and I have noticed eight proposals by you about song articles that could be merged into their parent album articles. Since it has been two months, it does not look like the WikiProjects pinged are going to engage with the discussions (or any editor of these articles apparently for that matter). As you are the sole support as nominator, and the creator of the articles opposes, I think the merge discussions should be closed as "No consensus" ; however I did not want to mass close all your nominations before asking you if you thought something else should be done. Oh, and since I am there, congrats for the successful RFA! Choucas Bleu (T·C) 21:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the congrats. Do whatever with the proposed merges. The keep rationale is not based on the notability guideline and none of the sources provide SIGCOV. It's annoying that one obstinate editor can filibuster a very clear-cut case for merge, but here we are. voorts (talk/contributions) 15:00, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
November 22 + 26: Free Culture Friday and Wikicurious photo event!
November 22: Free Culture Friday | |
---|---|
You are invited to Foundation and Friends' Free Culture Friday at Prime Produce on Friday, November 22. This event will feature a reception with Wikimedia Foundation staff in the afternoon, followed by a more informal salon and game night, utilizing Prime Produce's vast collection of board games. No experience of anything at all is required. All are welcome!

November 26: Wikicurious: Capturing the Moment | |
You are also invited to Wikicurious: Capturing the Moment, the third event of the beginner-focused Wikicurious series, at Jefferson Market Library on Tuesday, November 26, in collaboration with WikiPortraits and AfroCROWD. All are welcome to attend, especially those interested in photography or contributing to Wikimedia Commons. We will explore the art of capturing the moment through photography and learn the basics of Wikimedia Commons, and (weather-permitting) we are also planning a photo walk, so bring your camera (or use your smartphone)!

GA nominator and reviewer indeffed
And TPA was revoked, and UTRS appeal declined. Tamara (given name) is heading for a second quickfail. The article has been unstable. I don't like that this article should fail twice. It's just a weird and unfortunate scenario. Could something be done about that? Unnominate at least? Substitute submitter? Talk:Technical geography/GA1 was undergoing a review. Do you have any thoughts on what should happen with that review? Regards, —Alalch E. 20:48, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Alalch, I would raise this at WT:GAN to see if another reviewer wants to take on the latter and if there's consensus to remove the nom for Tamara. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 21:36, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for Costello's, introduced: "Costello's was a watering hole for journalists, writers, and cartoonists on the east side of Midtown Manhattan. Ernest Hemingway reportedly broke a cane over John O'Hara's head on a bet; the bar's owner responded by displaying the broken cane over the bar. I wish I could have dropped in for a whiskey there."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:27, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you all! It's sad that these kinds of gin joints have all but disappeared from New York City, replaced by post-modern-looking fast casual eateries and anodyne unlimited brunch spots. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:16, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/2024 New Way Cargo Airlines Ilyushin Il-76 shootdown (3rd nomination)
Hello, Voorts,
A closer can't come up with an original ATD that hasn't been mentioned in the AFD discussion and I don't see that a Redirect had been suggested. I might have missed a comment but all I saw when I reviewed it were Deletes and Keeps. I learned about this the hard way when my closure was brought to Misplaced Pages:Deletion review which is generally not a pleasant experience for an AFD closer. If there isn't a consensus, it's better to relist a discussion rather than come up with your own resolution. Liz 05:21, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'll relist it. I thought there was a rough consensus to delete, but redirecting was plausible as an ATD. I thought that kind of close was within closer discretion, but good to know that it's not. voorts (talk/contributions) 05:42, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

Question about ANI closure
Voorts, the A/E discussion you linked- did not mention Simonms once. The AN/ANI thread (I moved to ANI on my volition after realizing that it may not have been the best platform) was specifically about Simoms conduct on my t/p and the article t/p, where he was repeatedly and objectively fabricating Misplaced Pages policy, in addition to straw manning my arguments. It was only after GhostofDanGurney responded and derailed the conversation to A/E, did I feel compelled to point to his own record at A/E, and Ghost made false claims against me stating that I forced Simonms to go the article t/p. I felt that Ghost's post there was a clear case of tag teaming as evidenced by here-.
In any case, since there is objective and repeated fabricating of Misplaced Pages policy from Simonm (which I'd say is pretty severe), do I have no recourse? Am I supposed to just tolerate someone making stuff upon the fly and expecting me to abide by it? I'm genuinely curious. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 17:40, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- This is a content dispute, not a conduct issue. You disagree with Ghost and Simon's readings of policy. That's fine; editors are allowed to disagree. Editors are not allowed, however, to file conduct claims at AN/I, AE, etc. when they have such a disagreement. Generally, you should remain civil, AGF, and attempt to resolve your disputes. I think the best path forward here would be seeking a neutral mediator. @GhostOfDanGurney and @Simonm223: would you be open to dispute resolution at WP:DRN? voorts (talk/contributions) 17:46, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- I mean I came into this issue as a neutral editor but, yeah, sure, I suppose we might as well try. Simonm223 (talk) 17:53, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
