The next presidential elections in Syria are expected to take place before March 1, 2025, since Mohammad al-Bashir's transitional government will remain in effect until March 1, 2025. This will be the first presidential election since the fall of the Ba'athist regime. However, earlier the opposition leader Hadi al-Bahra said the transition period should last about 18 months. Currently, the de facto leader of the Syrian state is Abu Mohammad al-Julani
