Old Man Quill is an American comic book limited-run maxi-series written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Robert Gill and Ibraim Roberson. Published by Marvel Comics as a stand-alone spin-off of Wolverine: Old Man Logan, the series chronicles the story of an elderly Peter Quill as he returns to a post-apocalyptic supervillain-ruled Earth years following the deaths of the Guardians of the Galaxy, as he seeks to prevent it from being consumed by Galactus. The twelve-issue series, originally published in 2019, was republished as two graphic novels, subtitled Nobody's Fault But My Own and Go Your Own Way, from 2019 to 2020.

Premise

In the series' storyline, a devastated elderly Peter Quill, now the Emperor of Spartax succeeding his father J'son, is seemingly found by an aged version of the Guardians of the Galaxy, recruiting him for one more adventure back on Earth that will give him revenge on Galactus, who is planning on consuming the planet, the Wastelands of which are now ruled by supervillains, including Spider-Bitch and Doctor Doom. It is eventually revealed that Quill has been hallucinating all of the other Guardians for the duration of his quest, and the real Guardians have been killed by Galactus. With the Ultimate Nullifier having been destroyed, Quill eventually defeats Galactus by shooting him in the head with the Time Stone, displacing part of Galactus's brain, before forming a new team of Guardians to travel the galaxy and deal with the rest of the Church of Galactus.

Characters

  • Peter Quill – The elderly Emperor of Spartax, a former space-hero who travels to a supervillain-controlled Earth to save it from Galactus.
  • Galactus – The "Devourer of Worlds" and the god of the Church of Galactus.
  • Ashley Barton – The "Spider-Bitch" and one of the seven supervillain dictators of the Wastelands, whom Quill inadvertently helps regain power (having lost it on returning from Spider-Geddon to find years to have passed) on mistaking her for a hero.
  • Victor Von Doom – One of the seven supervillain dictators of the Wastelands, whom mistakenly believes Quill to be on Earth to face him.
