Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Set thousands of years in the future, it follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, who is stranded on a remote planet. Development began in 2020, after the release of Naughty Dog's previous game, The Last of Us Part II. The game is written and directed by Neil Druckmann, and stars Tati Gabrielle as Jordan. The original score was composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Setting and characters
A science fiction game set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is set in an alternate universe in which advanced space travel existed by 1986. The story is centred on a fictional religion, and follows Jordan A. Mun (portrayed by Tati Gabrielle), a bounty hunter stranded on the remote planet Sempiria. For over 600 years, the planet has been cut off from all outside contact and no one has been able to leave its orbit. Jordan seeks to escape. The first trailer depicts Jordan watching anime and flying a Porsche-branded rocket ship. Kumail Nanjiani portrays Colin Graves, one of Jordan's targets.
Development
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is in development by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 5. Development began in 2020, after the release of The Last of Us Part II ; more than 250 Naughty Dog employees worked on the game. It is directed by Neil Druckmann, and the score is composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Sony Interactive Entertainment trademarked the title in February 2024, and Naughty Dog revealed the game at the Game Awards on December 12, 2024, alongside its first trailer.
It is the first original story created by Naughty Dog in almost fifteen years, since The Last of Us (2013). According to Druckmann, the story explores "what happens when you put your faith in different institutions". It takes inspiration from anime like Akira and Cowboy Bebop (1998). Druckmann considered Gabrielle a standout during the casting process, comparing her audition to Ashley Johnson's for The Last of Us's Ellie. Gabrielle also starred in the film Uncharted (2022) and the second season of The Last of Us (2025), both based on Naughty Dog franchises.
