Former judge on the Madras High Court who was listed as a notable alumni for Dr. Ambedkar College
M. Narayan Moorthy was an Indian lawyer and judge on the Madras High Court from 1981 until his death in 1983.
Life
Moorthy attended Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai and was married to Dr. Kausalya Moorthy, an obstetrician who practiced in Royapettah. The couple had two sons and two daughters. His elder daughter Priyamvada is a Psychiatrist in the United States. His younger daughter Premalatha was head of the Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Mathematics at the University of Madras in Chennai.Both his sons have passed away as of 2024.
Justice Moorthy was a nephew of noted Indian lawyer V. L. Ethiraj and worked for Ethiraj after completing his law degree. There is an endowment at Ethiraj College for Women in his and his wife's name.
