ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Very sorry for your loss

I'm so sorry to hear it, Locke Cole. Bishonen | tålk 20:27, 26 November 2024 (UTC).

Seconded. ―Mandruss  23:55, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

@Bishonen, @Mandruss thank you for the kind words, the past six months have been exhausting and I wish I could say it was over, but there's affairs to settle and an estate to try and save. If I'm lucky, things will be sorted out by what would have been her 78th. —Locke Coletc 17:19, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
For what it's worth, we lost my mother three years ago, but under circumstances that were easier. She was 96 and died of heart failure without a long illness (she drove her car a few weeks prior and was caring for herself days prior). Cancer sucks, no question. Hang in there. ―Mandruss  17:35, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
And I lost my own mother to cancer on June 21st of this year. Cancer does suck. My sympathies to you and your family. Liz 06:44, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Locke Cole, you are, of course, welcome to respond, but I'm trying to deescalate this discussion so it doesn't just become aspersions cast between two editors who disagree. I don't think any action will come out of this but you should know that this discussion was started. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets closed. Liz 06:47, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Apologies

Hey Locke, just thought that I'd apologize for being an asshole over at the DRV and then escalating the situation by taking it to ANI, I'm not exactly sure what happened. I hope we are on common ground now, and I'll probably take a break from the Brian Thompon topic as a whole. I'll also keep you and your family in my prayers, as I can't imagine your loss. Wishing you a prosperous new year, EF 03:33, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

As much as I appreciate the apology, I needed to do, and be, better. I wish you well in whatever you do on the project from here on out. —Locke Coletc 03:54, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
