Yumna Majeed is a Pakistani space educator, founder of Exploration, and advocate for astronomy and space technology education in Pakistan. Born in Lahore, Pakistan.

Early life and education

Majeed graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore with a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Despite her medical background, she developed a passion for space education, describing her journey into this field as a "beautiful accident".

Career

Exploration By Yumna

In 2016, Majeed founded Exploration, a STEAM education organization focused on promoting astronomy and space technology in Pakistan. Through Exploration, she has:

  • Engaged over 22,000 students across Pakistan.
  • Connected Pakistani students with NASA systems engineers, cosmonauts, and space education foundations.
  • Organized events and programs to expose young people to space-related topics often overlooked in traditional classrooms.

Space education initiatives

Majeed's work in space education includes:

  • Running Pakistan's first Traveling Space Museum
  • Collaborating with former NASA astronaut Nicole Stott to send artwork from Lahore to the International Space Station
  • Serving as an ambassador for the Space Generation Advisory Council in Pakistan
