History

The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) was established through Presidential Decree No. 205, issued by then-President Ferdinand Marcos on June 23, 1973. The institution was created to address the need for a continuing and coordinated program for the development of public and private sector personnel involved in the country's economic and social development.

In October 2023, President Marcos transferred DAP from the Office of the President to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). This transfer aimed to enhance the coordination and implementation of national economic and development policies.

In 2024, DAP reaffirmed its significant role in advancing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) practices in government during a forum hosted by NEDA. In celebration of World Quality Month, DAP hosted the Government Quality Management Program (GQMP) Conference 2024 on November 19-20, 2024, at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City. Additionally, DAP and the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) hosted a workshop on enhancing the service quality of public sector organizations.

In December 2024, DAP showcased its contributions to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) practices at the 11th M&E Network Forum hosted by NEDA.
