Description
King Dedede (デデデ大王), also written as King De De De (キング・デ・デ・デ) (in certain older games), or Dedede (デデデ), is Kirby's arch-enemy/rival in Nintendo and HAL Laboratories' long-running series, Kirby. He has appeared in more games than Meta Knight, besides other characters like Bandana Waddle dee. The Kirby series has portrayed Dedede as an "arch-frenemy".
Earliest Appearance
Dedede first appeared in the 1992 video game Kirby's Dream Land. In Kirby's Dream Land, his main role was stealing all the food from Dreamland residents. The player (Kirby) had to go through levels in order to find the king.
Super Smash Bros
Dedede was originally meant to be in the original Super Smash Bros 64 game. Also, he was also intended to appear in Super Smash Bros Melee. However, due to time and storage, Dedede never had a chance to appear in a Smash Bros game. In 2008, Super Smash Bros Brawl was released. This was the First time that Dedede ever appeared in a Smash Bros game.
Latest Appearance
Dedede's latest appearance was in a game called Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe. In this game Dedede has really not a lot of roles. Dedede also went through a change of design.
Kirby's Adventure
In Kirby's Adventure, Dedede can be seen swimming in the Fountain of Dreams. Dedede broke the star rod and gave them to one group called the Meta-Knights. Meta Knight was in that group. In one of the cutscenes, Dedede can be seen holding onto Kirby. Kirby is seen to push or slam Dedede away.
Appearances
Dedede has appeared in games such as Kirby Super Star, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby Squeak Squad, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, and many more.
Anime
Dedede's appearance in the anime series Kirby Right Back at Ya! is seen with another character named Escargoon. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Kenichi Ogata, and in the English version Ted Lewis. The English version gave Dedede a more Western-like accent.
Speices
the animal type that Dedede might be is unknown. Some Kirby fans predict that he might be a penguin. But Dededes species hasn't been confirmed.
