Gilbert de Clare (c. 1173 - 1185), 3rd Earl of Pembroke was an Anglo-Norman and Irish nobleman.
Early Life
Gilbert de Clare was born to his father, Richard de Clare and his mother, Aoife MacMurrough. His father, Richard de Clare, was 2nd Earl of Pembroke, the title of which Gilbert would inherit.
Earl of Pembroke and Death
In 1176, de Clare inherited the Earl of Pembroke from his father, making him the 3rd Earl of Pembroke. Gilbert wasn't very invested with the Earldom, being a minor who was uninterested.
At age 12-13, de Clare died in 1185 and passed the title to his sister, Isabel de Clare, making her suo jure 4th Countess of Pembroke.
