A qualified supporter of Bruce Ratner's controversial Atlantic Yards project, he defeated Bill Batson-a former union organizer and opponent of the planned Forest City Ratner development in downtown Brooklyn-by a margin of 64%-25% in September of 2006.
Currently serving as litigation counsel for a media and entertainment company, Jeffries perviously worked in the litigation department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and as a clerk for Judge Harold Baer, Jr.. He holds a degree from New York University (NYU) law school as well as a Master's Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown and a Bachelor's in Political Science from SUNY.
