Editing articles and replacing pictures with cropped versions without AmEx advertisements is not trolling or vandalism. Unfortunately, David Shankbone feels very possessive about "his" material and tries to stop everyone from editing his contributions. He either starts edit wars or asks for page protection every time one of "his" pictures is replaced by another, even if the new picture is of better quality. See his edit history and, for instance, the edit history and talk page of Afro. Furthermore, no editor "owns" any part of the material published on Wiki and no individual member of the Wiki community controls any specific material published on Wiki, therefore, to edit images contributed by David Shankbone is not against Wiki rules. Last but not least, according to Commons:Ownership of pages and files, signing the images with directly visible personal tags are strongly discouraged, that's what the image description pages and the "History" pages are for. The bottom line is, not me but David Shankbone violated several Wiki guidelines, such as Commons:Ownership of pages and files, Misplaced Pages:Assume good faith, Misplaced Pages:Please do not bite the newcomers, Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions, Misplaced Pages:Edit war, Misplaced Pages:Wiki spirit and Misplaced Pages:Canvassing , just to name a few.

Decline reason:

If you feel your versions of the images (which lack the required attributions) are better, you should have discussed it with David, not edit-warred about it. — Sandstein 22:20, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I didn't violate 3rr, so a block for "edit warring" is unwarranted. Furthermore, David Shankbone's reverts exceed mine and he requested my block right away, without any discussion and without any dispute resolution process.

Comment

The block is justified because you reverted DavidShankBone edits 4 times on three articles. You did not break 3RR but you did edit war.--James, La gloria è a dio 22:34, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Editing and reverting are two different things. I have done several edits, but I only reverted 2 articles 2 times, hardly something you can call an edit war. If I edit warred, then so did David Shankbone, his reverts exceed mine. I assume that he is blocked as well for edit warring and for Misplaced Pages:No personal attacks ("troll")?

It's interesting that this IP feels they know me so well, when I have had limited interaction with you. We have never actively engaged each other on talk pages. It's amazing you somehow have been able to edit every page I edit; every photograph you crop is mine. Have you wondered where this ire against me and my work has come from? You continually put a photo of a man in a wig (a photoshopped wig, at that) on the Afro page, and four different editors have removed it, five if you include me. This is what you consider ownership and edit warring? Then you have taken my photographs and decided to rename them simply to remove David Shankbone out of the file name. Your intentions are no pure. You are gaming the policies and guidelines to Wikistalk me. You say not to bite the newcomers, but I haven't actively engaged you. If you are a newcomer, how come you have such a handy knowledge of Wiki policies and guidelines? Why is every page in your history one I have contributed to? What is your issue with me, in particular? You have also done all of this under another IP, User:84.178.245.100. Why is this a productive use of your time? It's bizarre. Is it solely coincidence that my usual troll, User:71.112.115.55 AKA User:71.112.142.5 AKA User:71.112.7.212 AKA User: 71.112.6.35, have the EXACT same problems and behavior, on the same pages? It's a stunning coincidence; surely you two can't be friends. --David Shankbone 00:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Why is this user blocked?

Looks like all he did was improve a few pictures that were oversized and included advertisements for American Express. Is that a blockable behavior? Why isn't David blocked? 71.112.115.55 02:14, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Warning

Just a warning: there are now at least two admins watching your behaviour (and 71.112.115.55) — I strongly suggest that you stop this apparent vendetta. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 16:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
